First Holy Communion:

May God bless our 2nd grade students who received their First Holy Communion this weekend.

Flag Football Tournament:

Sacred Heart sent two teams to the Diocesan Boys 7v7 Flag Football tournament this past weekend at Seton LaSalle. They did a great job and had so much fun. Thanks to our coaches, Mr. Beier, Mr. O'Malley, and Ms. Kunkler. Go Crusaders!

Golden Apple WINNER:

Congratulations to Ms. Tarasovic who has been chosen as one of the recipients of the 2025 Golden Apple Award from the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Ms. T has dedicated her time supervising the Christian Leadership team, organizing school dances and talent shows, co-directing school musicals and has been a positive and supportive middle school math and religion teacher for 12 years at Sacred Heart. We are so proud!

Sacrament of Baptism:

Congratulations to Olive (5th grade) who received the sacrament of Baptism this weekend. We are so happy her classmates and teacher were able to share this special day with her.

Congratulations Hutton!

Hutton completed his journey with the Elks Hoop Shoot in Chicago. Over the past few months he's won the local, then state, and then regional tournaments, and finished 6th at the national tournament this past weekend. Way to go!

Pavilion 3 is reserved for SHES. Please feel free to bring a picnic lunch or just take a break with friends in the shade during the day.

Volunteers will be at the school entrance

during morning drop off

from 7:40 until 8:10 AM, April 29–May 1.


Tickets are $35 each.

Cash or check only. No refunds.


These tickets are only good for the school picnic on Friday, May 16.

Matilda Jr. The Musical: May 1st and May 2nd

(Dress Down Day Wednesday- $3)

We are very proud to announce this year's SHES 7th and 8th grade musical is MATILDA JR! 


To kick off and support our school musicals, we will have a $3 themed dress down day for staff and students on Wednesday, April 30th. Wear anything music/musical themed or wear Sacred Heart/red and black on Wednesday. You can turn in $3 to your homeroom teacher by Wednesday if you would like to participate and support our musical students and staff. If shorts are worn, they must be fingertip length or longer.


Below is the information for the upcoming performances. Please consider coming to support our students in this wonderful production. We hope to see you there! The performance will be taking place in our very own auditorium.

Night at the Races

Join us for a Night at the Races to support Sacred Heart Elementary School!


Saturday, May 10, 2025

doors open at 5pm

Butler Street Derby (4203 Butler St., Pittsburgh, 15201)

Place your wagers on a fun night! Join us at the Derby as pre-recorded horse races are narrated by a professional race announcer. Cheer on your favorite horse to win big!


Attendees can bid on races (minimum $2.00 per race), and at the end of the evening the horses are auctioned off to give an extra competitive edge to the experience.


There will be a basket raffle, 50/50, instant bingo, and more!


Attendees must be 21 or older.

Includes a buffet dinner and door prize entry.


$20 to sponsor a horse.

If you purchase a horse you get to name it, and if your horse wins its race, there will be a payout of $50.00. Horses sell fast!

You do not need to be in attendance to sponsor a horse.


$100 to sponsor a race

Includes a shout out during the race plus social media recognition. Sponsors will be contacted before the evening for recognition information.

Lunch/Recess Duty: Just May and June left!

Thank you to everyone that has helped to support our Parent Volunteer Program for lunch/recess duty. Your help has allowed the lunches to run smoothly and efficiently and helped to keep our students safe and active as they play outside. We have a ton of need for help and volunteers in February and so if you have not yet completed your 6 required days, please sign up today. 


If we do not have enough parents signed up, we cannot send students outside for recess. We want them to get outside as often as possible and so your help is needed.

Lenten Almsgiving

This Lent many of our classes participated in almsgiving activities. Thank you to everyone that donated to and supported our students as they collected for those in need.


Grades K-3 donated to the CRS Rice Bowl organization and collected $1168.19.


Grades 4-5 donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and collected $1805.

Sacred Heart Elementary School Mission Statement

Sacred Heart Elementary accepts the challenge of the Roman Catholic Church in the Pittsburgh Diocese to educate children preschool through grade eight in a spiritually nurturing and disciplined environment.
