Flag and Flagpole Dedication:
Sr. Lynn, Fr. Brendan, Alex Kozlowski, our school choir, the Christian Leadership Team, and our Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts along with members of our community, including Franklin West (the donors of the flagpole), gathered to bless our flag and our flagpole and raise it for the first time since the pole was donated and installed.
The Color Guard, Cecilia, Roma, Josie, and Dominic, presented and raised the flag, and all of the scouts and attendees said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang God Bless America.

Brushing and Flossing Lesson:
3rd Grade had an opportunity to learn about the importance of good oral hygiene with an active lesson from Dr. Raggi from Signature Orthodontics.

Winter Dress Code Reminder:
Stay Warm!
|
As the temperatures drop, please be reminded that students will go outside for recess as long as the weather permits.
Please send your child to school with a coat (and a hat and gloves, if needed).
Girls in uniform are permitted to wear leggings or tights under their jumper or skirt. The leggings must be solid colored black, navy, red, or white. Girls are also permitted and encouraged to bring sweatpants or flannel pants to wear at recess only.

Whenever there is a question of school being in session because of inclement weather, Sacred Heart School follows the decision of the Pittsburgh Public School System.
Where can you find out if Sacred Heart is delayed or closed?:
- TV Stations and their website will list Sacred Heart and Pittsburgh Public Schools for closing (KDKA, WPXI, and WTAE)
- Email via FACTS
- Text Message Alert via FACTS
Please do not call the school. Use the methods above to know if we are delayed or closed.
If the Pittsburgh Public Schools call for a two-hour delay due to weather, Sacred Heart School children have a two-hour delay as well and should report to school at 10:00 a.m. The building will not be open for students until 9:30 am. This includes Pre-K.
If the City of Pittsburgh does not delay, but the districts that provide your child's busing do delay, your bus transportation will follow your school district's announcement. If your children arrive to school late due to this, they will be excused.

Sunday December 15, 2024
2pm-4pm In the Sacred Heart School Cafeteria
We invite all school families to join us in creating gingerbread houses, a Sacred Heart Tradition for many years. This event is a wonderful way to celebrate the season with families and friends. This event is not a fundraiser, but a long standing community building tradition.
One gingerbread kit includes a box of graham crackers, icing, and candies of every size and shape. Some families create cardboard or gingerbread structures at home and bring them to the event to decorate. Others start at the event. The choice is yours!
Santa will be there for photos also. He is the REAL DEAL!!! Funds collected for the photos will give Santa a gift and candy canes and crafts for the kids!
Please click the link below to register today!

After School Program- Toy Donation Request | |
Mrs. Cashdollar and Ms. Rhodes have had a great start to the year in the After School Program. A new floor was installed in the Activities Building classroom and they have been working to clear out old toys and crafts.
As they start to replace some of their play equipment, they have requested donations of some specific toys that you may have at home that are gently used, but may not be needed anymore. Please see the list below to help our program.
Some toys that the children have requested are:
- Legos
- Action figures (super heroes, action figures for boys and girls)

From the Parent/Student Handbook: The diocesan policy for funding in the elementary Catholic schools calls for each school to have fundraising activities to generate at least 10% of their total operating budget. To the extent possible, families of Sacred Heart Elementary School are asked to support the school fundraising efforts through participation and volunteering of time. All fundraisers, unless otherwise noted, are for the sole use of Sacred Heart Elementary School.
The annual fundraising goal for Sacred Heart is $150,000. That means that each family (300 families) should contribute approximately $500 worth of fundraising per year in order for us to meet our goal.
If you are unable to or would prefer not to be obligated to participate financially in all fundraisers, but would like to help us meet our goal, you can pay all or part of the the $500 Family Fundraising Buy Out through FACTSgiving using the link below.
