Veterans' Day-Photo Album

Dear Parents,

As we make plans to observe Veterans Day at Sacred Heart School in November, we invite you to participate by sharing a photo of a relative or friend who served our country. The link below, PHOTO ALBUM,  will be shown on our school video monitors during November. Children will watch the photos of veterans with admiration and pride.

Please join this effort by sharing a photo with us.

Dismissal Reminder

Just a reminder that for student safety and to ensure that teachers can see all adults picking up, please stand on the sidewalk at Walnut St. to pick up your child. Teachers will send your child to you as soon as possible.

PINK Out- Friday, October 18th

We hope everyone can join us on Friday, October 18th at the PINK out game:

Sacred Heart Black vs. Sacred Heart White JV (6:30) and Varsity (7:30).

Wear pink to pink out the whole gym to support Mrs. Osio.

If you purchased a pink Crusader Strong tshirt, you can wear it with/over your uniform to school on Friday. This is NOT a dress down day. Uniform skirts/jumpers or pants must be worn. Also, 8th grade students must wear their uniform to Eagle/Viking for a Day (no pink shirt). They can wear their pink shirt when they return to Sacred Heart in the afternoon.

If you did not purchase a pink Crusader Strong tshirt, you can still PINK out at the game with whatever you have. We will also have some extra shirts for sale (all sizes not guaranteed).

Flexible Instruction Day (FID) - November 6th

Please note this reminder about an important change to the school calendar. The Diocesan

Catholic Schools Office has informed us that on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, all Diocesan

school teachers and administrators will participate in a rescheduled in-service day for our faculty and staff. This in-service day, which had to be postponed from August 19, will address the critical topic of school safety and security.

The goal of this in-service is to ensure that our schools maintain consistency in safety protocols,

emergency responses, and the language we use when addressing these vital issues. The safety

of our students and staff is always one of our top priorities, and having a unified approach

across all diocesan schools will help us remain vigilant and prepared.

To accommodate this in-service and avoid losing a learning day for our students, all schools will

operate under a Flexible Instructional Day (FID) on November 6. Teachers will provide

assignments that your children can complete independently at home. Please note that teachers will be fully engaged in their professional development sessions throughout the day, so they will not be available to interact with students or answer questions, even asynchronously. The work assigned will be designed to ensure that students can complete it on their own.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to work together for the safety, intellectual growth, and spiritual development of our students.

Library Donations: Almanacs

Lunch/Recess Duty

Thank you to everyone that has helped to support our Parent Volunteer Program for lunch/recess duty.

Your help has allowed the lunches to run smoothly and efficiently and helped to keep our students safe and active as they play outside.

We have had a great start to the school year with so many families volunteering. Thank you! Please help us to end October and November with filled sign ups.

If you are unable to volunteer during the school, but would like to fulfill your duty requirement, please contact Ms. Theresa in the school office to become a contact person that reminds parents of their duty days and helps to find substitute volunteers as needed.

If you have completed your family's 6 required days, but are available to help more, please sign up. We appreciate your support.

Fundraising Buy-Out Option

From the Parent/Student Handbook: The diocesan policy for funding in the elementary Catholic schools calls for each school to have fundraising activities to generate at least 10% of their total operating budget. To the extent possible, families of Sacred Heart Elementary School are asked to support the school fundraising efforts through participation and volunteering of time. All fundraisers, unless otherwise noted, are for the sole use of Sacred Heart Elementary School.

The annual fundraising goal for Sacred Heart is $150,000. That means that each family (300 families) should contribute approximately $500 worth of fundraising per year in order for us to meet our goal.

If you are unable to or would prefer not to be obligated to participate financially in fundraisers, but would like to help us meet our goal, you can pay the $500 Fundraising Buy Out through FACTSgiving using the link below.

**If you would like to do the $50/month buy out option, please email Mrs. Mascaro. There have been issues with FACTSgiving that we are currently working out for the monthly payment option.
