SoCalGas Partners with The Laundry Truck LA and Landi Renzo USA to Bring Additional Mobile Laundry Services to Thousands of Homeless Throughout Los Angeles

SoCalGas recently announced a $25,000 donation to The Laundry Truck LA (TLTLA) to provide free laundry services and necessities to the homeless population in Los Angeles, including at the city's 42 coronavirus relief centers. The grant will help fund the purchase and furnishing of a second trailer to support the community's rising demands for laundry services. Landi Renzo USA, a global leader in alternative fuel technology, will also donate a truck equipped with the company's Eco Ready™ compressed natural gas (CNG) system to support TLTLA's efforts.

Recycling may be having a tough time
as the
City's
Public Works Department work on creating new markets for these materials, but that is no reason to stop recycling. Residents just need to keep their recycling as clean as possible. Make sure all recyclable containers are empty. Rinse or wipe out containers to remove residue, using grey water, if possible. Let all containers dry before placing them into bins. Leave lids and labels on.

Sustainable Materials Management: Non-Hazardous Materials & Waste Management Hierarchy

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) developed the non-hazardous materials and waste management hierarchy in recognition that no single waste management approach is suitable for managing all materials and waste streams in all circumstances. The hierarchy ranks the various management strategies from most to least environmentally preferred. The hierarchy places emphasis on reducing, reusing, and recycling as key to sustainable materials management.

Sanitation Districts Embark on Novel Coronavirus Research
The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (Sanitation Districts) manage wastewater for more than 5.6 million residents in 78 cities and unincorporated areas in Los Angeles County. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, they have been closely following developments and taken all appropriate measures to ensure that they are protecting the health of our workers, the general public, as well as the environment. They have also recently started research that could potentially help public health officials manage the pandemic.

Upholstery Shop Switches from Seat Covers to Face Covers During COVID-19
|
Upholstery has always been a reliable place to find loose change, after-dinner mints and paper clips. Recently, LADWP searched around in upholstery and came up with a great idea. During the COVID-19 emergency, face masks are essential. They’re also in high demand. LADWP crews, especially those in the Power System who work near high voltage lines and equipment, not only need masks now to wear on the job, but ones that are fire-resistant, a.k.a. Arc Resistant (AR). The Power System has nearly 3,000 full-time AR clothing wearers who would potentially need a mask of similar rating to maintain their compliance with Cal/OSHA regulations.

Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste Collection Events Canceled Until Further Notice - COVID-19 Update
Because of coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, all HHW events have been canceled indefinitely. In addition, their EDCO and Antelope Valley centers are also closed. City of Los Angeles S.A.F.E centers are also closed. Protecting public health and the environment remains Sanitation Districts' highest priority and they look forward to resuming this beneficial program.

Metro is Taking Steps to Keep You Safe

During this difficult time, Metro asks riders to keep a social distance of 6 feet from others as much as possible, wear a face covering, and avoid riding Metro if you feel sick. Metro is running as many buses as they can with available staff, and continue to monitor and adjust service so that you can still get around when necessary.
