Flood zone information is available upon request from the City of Jacksonville Beach Planning and Development Department. FEMA updated the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) for Duval County in 2018. The new maps became effective on November 2, 2018.

To request flood zone information on a property, please contact the Planning and Development Department with the street address, real estate number, and/or legal description of the property. If an exact determination cannot be made, the reference number of the FIRM Community Panel that shows the property can be provided. You can also obtain flood information on property by visiting https://maps.coj.net/jaxgis/ and selecting Duval Property.

Copies of elevation certificates for developed properties in flood zones are also available for most properties built since 1990, if the structure was in a flood zone when constructed. Copies of elevation certificates for developed properties since January 1, 2017, may also be available through the Florida Department of Emergency Management by visiting https://florida.withforerunner.com/properties.

Contact the Planning and Development Department for more information at 904-247-6142 or email at planning@jaxbchfl.net. For more information, you can access the City’s Flood Map Information handout by clicking here. It is important to know information about a property’s food zone before purchasing or making improvements.

You may have noticed some recent updates to the Jacksonville Beach Lifesaving Station — including a fresh coat of paint and new signage proudly declaring it the home of Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue and the Volunteer Life Saving Corps. These improvements are part of a temporary refresh while the City begins long-term planning for more extensive repairs and renovations.

Future improvements could take up to two years and will ensure this iconic facility remains a historic landmark and continues to serve our community safely and effectively for decades to come.
