MECK Pre-K reaches
record enrollment!
| | MECK Pre-K is on the rise! With over 1,800 children enrolled for the coming school year, the Class of 2026 is set to be our largest yet! Our very own Chief Education Officer Mary Margaret Kantor sat down with WBTV News to discuss the growth of the program and reiterate the benefits of pre-k in our community. | | Apply for MECK Pre-K Today! | | Registration is open! If you have a child that's turning 4 years old by August 31st, you can still apply for MECK Pre-K! MECK Pre-K is high quality pre-k education open to all four-year-old children in Mecklenburg County at no cost to families! Head on over to our enrollment page to apply! | | Is your child not old enough for pre-K? | | Here's what two of our parents had to say about their experience with MECK pre-K: | | Since I learned about the program, it got my attention. One of my child’s cousins attended before and recommended it. I decided to sign him up so that he can start his learning early on and so it helps him in the future. I’m delighted with my student’s teacher because she’s a wonderful person. She understood him and helped him a lot. He learned to rhyme words and learned his numbers. He couldn’t speak English when he started but he learned so much. He’s much more prepared for kindergarten and it’s going to be easy for him to adapt to school. | | -Brenda Ramos & Albert Torres | | I like that the teachers were very involved. They always created unique stuff for the students. They also made sure that their education came first and that they were improving every day. If anything came up with their education, they contacted us. Communication was always great. My daughter loved it, she loved going to school every day. | | -Lashae Jackson & Braelyn Jackson | | Parents! we would love to hear from you. How is MECK Pre-K assisting in your child's development? share your story on our Testimonial Page! | | MECK Pre-K in the Community | Check out some pictures from the last few weeks in the classroom! | | |

Brigance screenings evaluate key predictors of school success across several developmental domains. Teachers use observation, interviews, and child performance to pinpoint understanding in the domains tied to early development and school or kindergarten readiness.
