By The Reverend John Burruss,
Rector of Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Vestavia Hills
Over the past few months, a myriad of people near and far away have made their way to the nave of Saint Stephen’s. To pray, to walk forward to the table of God that feeds the broken and hungry and encourages us all to follow in the way of love. Continue reading.

All that is required is a willing heart and the ability
to lift 25 pounds.
In Matthew 25 Jesus proclaims that when we care for those in need we are caring for Jesus. Every week, Grace Church in Woodlawn’s Food Pantry provides food for those who are hungry. The parish is in great need of support from others in the diocese. Specifically, we need help unloading boxes of food and sorting them in the pantry on the second and fourth Mondays of every month between 9 and 11am. All that is required is a willing heart and the ability to lift 25 pounds. Volunteers could sign up for once or twice per month. If you are interested in volunteering, or have any questions, please contact The Rev. Deacon Charlie Venable. Thank you in advance for your support.

We have been alerted that some parishioners have received text messages asking for help that appears to come from clergy in our diocese. The kinds of help requested may include purchasing Walmart or Visa gift cards. This is a scam!
Please be cautious about any emails or text messages asking for help. Clergy in the diocese will not seek assistance from you in this way. Do not respond to a text or email asking for assistance, and do not click on any links or attachments. If you are ever uncertain about a message, please call your church office.

Last year the ECW was able to give all our seminarians $100 towards books to assist with their study and growth through the Church Periodical Club. This year they hope to double the annual CPC contribution for each seminarian.
Seminarians are usually responsible for paying for their books, and as a priest recently said, “The support from the ECW for my books was very helpful.”
Thank you for supporting this wonderful ministry. You can make a donation here, or mail a check payable to: ECW, Diocese of Alabama, "For CPC" in the memo line. Mail to: ECW, Carpenter House, 521 N 20th Street, Birmingham, AL 35203.
-Jennifer Douglass Alexander, CPC Diocesan Coordinator
