Plants Trees at Camp McDowell
On Saturday, Oct. 2, 2022, representatives from the Diocesan Task Force for the Care of Creation met at Camp McDowell to start planting trees donated by St. Simon Peter Church in Pell City. This is an extension of the Communion Forest in Alabama. We prayed before planting that the Creator of all things and the source of life would cause our trees to grow that they may provide shade, become strong lungs of the earth, enhance the habitat of local wildlife, and create beauty for all to enjoy. We also prayed that our diocese would follow in our example and be inspired to plant more trees. Andrew Shea, Land and Resource Manager at Camp McDowell, instructed us how to plant. Those who helped plant trees included Anne Ness, Sara-Scott Wingo, D.R. Dunlap, Sarah Dunlap, and Michael Yancey. Other helpers who joined us were Sarah, Annie, and Scarlett Macon.

The Task Force invites all Alabama Episcopalians to plant as many trees as possible or to have them planted. We also ask that you record your planting with the Diocese by filling out the form provided here. Join us at Camp McDowell to plant more trees on Saturday, Nov. 12, 10:00am-3:00pm. Meet in front of Doug Carpenter Hall.
