"Hidden Realities":
A Simulation Presentation On Dementia at Saint Luke’s, Birmingham
On Sunday, September 25 from 2:30 to 4 p.m., uncover the hidden perspectives on common life realities related to conditions such as Alzheimer’s & other types of dementia. With video, virtual reality simulations, and conversation “Hidden Realities” will give insights into what it feels like to experience dementia-related challenges. This is an invaluable learning tool for family and paid caregivers seeking to understand the behaviors and experiences of those with dementia and everyone who desires a more dementia-friendly world. In partnership with Birmingham-Southern College and Embodied Labs, Founders Place respite program at Saint Luke’s is proud to offer this presentation at no cost to the community. “The Hurt and the Damage: Letting Horror Turn into Wisdom”
On Saturday, October 15, Saint Stephen’s is pleased to welcome back the Rev. Dr. Sam Wells, who will give a lecture, “The Hurt and the Damage: Letting Horror Turn into Wisdom,” beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The event is open to the public. Seating and childcare are available by reservation. Wells will also preach in the 9:00 and 11:15 services in the Nave on Sunday, October 16, in addition to being with us for the 10:15 Sunday Forum in the Parish Hall. St. James Episcopal Church, Alexander City, will host its Annual Bazaar on Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. to noon. The Pottery Guild of St. James has been preparing beautiful pottery items for the Bazaar, including the much-loved pottery crosses, which Father Rob Iler blesses for the event. The Bazaar will also feature crafts from local artists and a variety of homemade goodies including cakes, casseroles, soups, and other kitchen creations. St. James parishioners work year-round to create the treasures available at the Bazaar. All proceeds benefit local community programs. Come join us!
