All are invited to Creation: A Community Festival of Hymns and Anthems hosted by St. Peter's, Talladega, on October 16 at 4:00P.M. The event is being held to raise funds to start a choral scholar program at St. Peter’s, and donations will be accepted. Talent for the choral scholar program will be recruited from Talladega College and Jacksonville State University. This program will feature our historic Hook & Hastings pipe organ, the Jesu, Joy String Quartet, and a choral ensemble comprised of students from Jacksonville State University and Talladega College. Friends from Birmingham and St. Peter’s parishioners will also participate in the program.
The intention of the choral scholar program is to enrich weekly liturgies at St. Peter's, and to host music programs that will be offered free to the surrounding community. For more information about the event or the music scholar program please contact Joshua Bullock.
Please join R.O.S.S. and the City of Huntsville's Community Development Office for the Breaking Down Barriers recovery event. Held during National Recovery Month, the event will include free food, music, Naloxone, HIV testing, mobile showers, kids' activities, clothing and more. Free transportation from Huntsville Transit will be available.
Campus Ministries is hosting a racial reconciliation pilgrimage September 24-25, visiting the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, 16th Street Baptist Church, and Kelly Ingram Park. College students and young adults are invited to attend. Sign up at https://bit.ly/CMpilgrimage, and contact Elizabeth Tagg for more information.
Youth Department to Host Meal Packing Event
Save the date for a DIOCESAN SERVICE DAY hosted by the Youth Department on Saturday, October 8. Join us at All Saints Birmingham from 2-5 PM to participate in meal packing with Rise Against Hunger. Youth, their families, and friends of ALL AGES are invited to attend. For more information contact Kristin Blackerby at kblackerby@dioala.org.
Could your parish use a few robes and surplices?
Holy Apostles has three white surplices and four black robes they would like to give away:
Two surplices are one size fits all, and one is size XXL
Four black robes: one is fairly slim fitting, the other three fit most sizes
The robes are clean, recently mended, hemmed, and buttons have been replaced, so they are ready to go. Contact Cathy Newhouse if your parish is interested in these robes.
