New KABOOM! Playspace

at Palm Grove Gardens!

On September 27, 2024, over 250 volunteers came together at Palm Grove Gardens to build a new playspace. Under the Florida sun, residents, local volunteers, and staff from KABOOM!, Kellanova, and ONIC constructed a new playground, installed benches, created a life-size chalkboard, painted a mural, and planted a butterfly garden, a medicinal garden, and an edible community garden. ONIC’s Board Chair, Ericka Dunlap, President Alfred Arzuaga, and Commissioner Shaniqua Rose expressed heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers, with surprise appearances from KABOOM! board member Dr. Tiffany Manuel and the City of Orlando staff. This is ONIC's eighth grant-funded playground from KABOOM!, ensuring that all children, regardless of their zip codes, have access to safe and inspiring places to play, designed with input from local children and parents to foster imagination and community connections. This playground enhances ONIC's affordable housing initiatives and creates a welcoming hub for all ages, so a special thank you goes to our volunteers for their hard work.
