Speak the Truth in Love
Today, many would see Jesus as a racist when He told the Samaritan woman, “. . .we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.” Most people would object to Jesus saying that a Gentile’s faith exceeded any of those in Israel (John 4:22).
Isaiah 29:21 says that in the last days people will “…make a man an offender for a word...”. We are experiencing these things today. When Jesus made these statements, He always spoke truth in love and revealed what was missing in people’s lives. He did not call one group better than another!
Salvation was, actually, of the Jews. Through the Jewish people, Jesus incarnated into humanity. Keep listening as Jesus continues by telling the Samaritan woman, “The hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth.” Jesus went to the heart of the matter every time, identifying what was missing. Samaritans and Jews alike were worshipping God their own way, not in spirit and in truth.
Identifying right from wrong discriminates. To discriminate means to recognize a difference. Will we fear to speak the truth in love or call sin by its right name because of how some respond?
We need great faith and wisdom. We need the mind of Christ, too. We must have His Word abiding in us through the Holy Spirit.
STR broadcasts the everlasting gospel to a world in need of truth, spoken in love. As with Jesus’ earthly ministry, some hearers will be drawn, while others will be offended. We praise God for moving upon your mind and heart to support STR with your varied resources including much prayer. May the Holy Spirit take your gifts and multiply them greatly in the currency of souls today.
