Happy Birthday Your Story Hour

This month the beloved radio program Your Story Hour is turning 75 years old! What started as a half-hour story time aired on a single radio station (WHFB in Benton Harbor, Michigan) is now a program broadcast on thousands of radio stations around the world. All that the team at Your Story Hour can say is, “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad.” (Psalm 126:3)

Every year of the ministry’s existence has been full of miracles. Back in 1949 it seemed impossible that a group of lay people with no radio experience could produce a weekly program. However, at just the right moment, God provided the right people with the right skills to carry the mission forward. This scenario has repeated itself over and over throughout the past 75 years! Every time the ministry needs new equipment or other resources, God impresses someone to make a donation. Every time someone is about to retire, God leads another skilled person to fill his/her shoes. Your Story Hour truly is God’s ministry!

While this birthday is a time to celebrate where the ministry started, it’s also a time to look to the future. Children of today need character-building stories more than ever! They are inundated on all sides by meaningless and addictive entertainment. Half of children under the age of 8 spend more than 2 hours on screen time every day; this can have a profound negative impact on their development, language, and reasoning skills.

Your Story Hour offers an alternative source of entertainment, inviting children to use their vast imaginations to paint pictures in their minds as they listen to stories of heroes and heroines who exhibit values like faith, courage, responsibility, diligence, and more! The radio program is dedicated to continuing producing of new stories to keep reaching new generations of children. Here’s to another 75 years of God’s blessings!

Thank you to the many faithful listeners of Strong Tower Radio, who have loved and supported Your Story Hour for the past 15 years!

Strong Tower Radio will air an interview with Your Story Hour's current hosts on Sunday March 17 at 3:30 a.m., Monday March 18 at 4 p.m., Wednesday March 20 at 9 p.m., and finally Thursday March 21 at 1 p.m.

Snowbird Car Magnet Witness

Text from Marji Shade of Kalamazoo, who bought a Strong Tower Radio car magnet, explains how she shared her latest witnessing as she and her husband were driving to Florida recently:

Hi, Tom. We decided to do some geocaching around town here in Florida (we're beginners). So, every time we find a cache and sign our names on the log, I include STR.fm. For some of the larger cache containers, I like to include an STR business "sharing" card. I have a few with me... Gonna bring extra next time!

Readers, "Snowbird Witnessing" is a real thing! You can do Strong Tower Radio witnessing with or without a car magnet, sharing card, or bookmark, but it is a little easier with them. Tell people about this radio station and your love for Jesus wherever you are!

PS: Strong Tower Radio will gladly supply sharing cards and bookmarks to hand to people in-person who are interested in Strong Tower Radio "wherever."

Ways for STR Giving

You can give to Strong Tower Radio in several ways with different effects.

The first is the fastest, most effective donation by giving directly via a mailed check, calling in a donation, or donating on our website at StrongTowerRadio.org. This allows you to designate a station or support the whole radio network through a one-time or recurring donation.

Another way is by giving to the Michigan Radio Ministry fund with a tithe envelope or via your church's Adventist Giving online.

The Elephant's Chain

I once learned that an elephant in captivity grows up with the chain around its leg. As a baby, it tugs at a chain, but to no avail. The chain is too strong, and the stake is set firm. Overtime, the elephant gives up trying to escape. But that’s not the surprising part. For now, as a grown beast, it has the power to just step away and be free.

According to Revelation 1:5, you and I have been “freed” (NIV; “released” NASB) from the power of our sins through faith in the greater power of Christ’s sacrificial blood. And it is by the power of this same “blood” that we are enabled to overcome Satan’s temptations today, and tomorrow (12:11).

Depending on how, or by whom, you were led to the Lord, you may or may not understand the power that you now have “in Christ.” Like that elephant, you may be convinced that life is pretty good just eating some fresh grass. But the “good news” of the gospel is that you have been set free—completely released from that chain! Ironically, you are so free in Christ that you find it impossible not to turn around and offer yourself as a forever “servant” to the One who has set you free from the power and bondage of death (1:1).

So, the next time you see an elephant, you might want to give your leg a quick shake just to remind yourself of your freedom in Christ (just be sure that no one is watching).

Dear friend, as you experience freedom in Jesus Christ do you want to be a partner of His. He gave all, He only asks that we return our tithe and give an offering, but what will it profit a person if they give a little when they could give more, maybe all. The returns are completely out of this world. Strong Tower Radio is poised to take this gospel to the world through radio, streaming and uniting with our churches, “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world then shall the end come.”
