Thankful or Complaining?

During November, many people take a little time to ponder what they are thankful for during the past year.  Somewhat like a year in review, they reflect on the blessings they have received, though not all connect them to the personal, holy God Who loves them.

The faster life speeds by, the more inclined we are to overlook the many blessings for which we can be thankful, let alone express those thanks.  What do we tend to do instead?  We complain.  Whether by thought or audibly expressed, we tend to express more complaints than thanksgiving.  We want our situation or concern addressed.  Expressing thanks may not even occur to us in the moment.

Our mental and physical health will continually benefit by daily cultivating a thankful mindset to counter our self-centered tendency to complain about people or circumstances.   Proverbs 17:22 instructs us “A joyful heart (mind, attitude) does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”

Paul urges us to let the peace of God rule in your heart….and be thankful” and to “do all things without complaining…” (Col 3:15, Gal 2:14)

Jesus simply asks us to follow His example.  Without complaining, He lived and worked on Earth for 33.5 years with a thankful heart full of God’s peace.  He then gave His perfect life as a gift, giving us a second chance!  What a matchless gift, thank you, Jesus!

The everlasting gospel described in Revelation 14:6-7 summarizes Jesus’ call for us to follow His example.   Strong Tower Radio (STR) broadcasts the everlasting gospel, in varying formats, 24/7/365 to prepare people to meet a crucified, risen, and soon-returning Savior Who offers power to live victorious lives now.

As I ponder things for which I am thankful, you come to mind. Thank you, listeners, and thank you donors for keeping STR on the air, broadcasting the Three Angels Messages in much of Michigan and streaming to the globe.  The world needs the everlasting gospel NOW more than ever.

Your continued prayers and financial support will bless many.   As the calendar year end approaches, thank you also for remembering STR in your tax planning.
