Yarmouth Port Library...Where you find more than just books for readers young and old.

Well I know I am not the only one saying this, "but where has the summer gone?" That being said, activities and programs at the library are gearing up for the fall season. Check out the list of programs and activities below. YPL is not just a library in the old-fashioned sense - it is a community gathering spot. Administrative Director’s & Children's Librarian Report
by Carrie Bearse, Administrative Director & Children's Librarian
Goodbye to a very busy summer, and a big welcome to the coolness and quiet of fall and early winter. Fall is my favorite time of year and I am looking forward to a calmer few months. I love the bustle and fun of a Cape Cod summer, but much prefer the slowness of fall.
That said, I love being at YPL no matter the season. What's not to love? Wonderful patrons, a children's room bursting with happy families, the reading room full of readers, competent and caring coworkers, fabulous volunteers, and attentive and thoughtful Trustees and Corporators keeping us all on track.
As you can see by the short length of this letter — instead of my usual verbose musing — I am a bit worn out by the busy summer. I am really looking forward to seeing you all at the library, and to having just a bit more time to enjoy this wonderful season.
Happy fall and thank you, all of you, for making YPL part of your life and routine. I very much appreciate being a part of it all.

Under the Spiral Staircase Book Sale
For a selection of “almost new” 2019 to 2023 titles: Bestsellers, children’s books, gardening books, cookbooks, and more. We add new titles weekly with donations from our generous patrons.
Check the Book Sale the next time you are at the library. We continue to accept 2019-2023 titles for our sales shelf during regular library hours. As for those larger donations which help build inventory for our Summer Book Sale, we expect to resume our Monday afternoon schedule in early 2024.

Interested in genealogy? Did you know?
A huge inventory of genealogy materials and resources is available right here at the Yarmouth Port Library.
Ancestry.com is available on our public computers, and you can explore that database at your leisure. In the reading room, we have genealogy reference books galore, including titles like How to Search for Your Ancestors.
Upstairs in the Genealogy Room are vital records from the beginning of record-keeping through 1850 from every Massachusetts town from Abington to Wrentham. We also have Mayflower Source Records, New England Marriages to 1700, Church and Grave records, Plymouth Colony records, Ancient Cemetery records, genealogy materials for many specific families, and so much more! Come in, our library staff will be happy to show you what is available.

Many of you already know that Susan Saposnik, our Circulation Assistant, is a busy musician here on the Cape. Mike Donovan, a Yarmouth composer, has written Blue Rhapsody, a classical jazz piece for Susan with band and orchestra accompaniment.
Several of our patrons have asked where they can hear Susan play. There are three upcoming opportunities to hear her perform:
• Sunday, October 22nd with the Tri-County Band at Tabor Academy in Marion at 3 PM.
• Saturday, November 18th with the Cape Community Orchestra at Monomoy High School in Harwich at 3 PM.
• Sunday, November 19th with the Cape Community Orchestra at Yarmouth Senior Center at 3 PM.
