Creative Alliance Milwaukee Update

September 9, 2011

It's hard to believe Autumn is on the horizon but there is no doubt! As the seasons change, it's a great opportunity to explore a variety of options...and we've got some goodies for you this week.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...?!  Though it's not quite the holiday season, don't miss the Harley-Davidson Museum's Call to Artists for the 1st Annual Blazin' Yule Sculpture project.  Proposals are due September 20th so be sure to capitalize on this great opportunity!

Milwaukee Film Festival tickets are on sale! Don't miss out of this year's festival, running September 21 - October 2 at four locations throughout Milwaukee.

You might just be the next great blogger on Patch, a community blog.  Creatives, this is a fun, non-intimidating way to dip your toes in the blog waters!  Find more details below.

Lastly, check out the featured gigs and a special shout-out to our Member Spotlight, Scheibel Halaska.

Have a great, reflective weekend!

Call to Artists: First Annual Blazin' Yule Sculpture Project at the Harley-Davidson Museum

The Harley-Davidson Museum is accepting submissions from artists or enrolled art students for the first annual sculptural holiday tree exhibition. A maximum of 12 three-dimensional works representing holiday trees will be selected for a six-week exhibition throughout the Museum campus. Selected artists will receive a $500 materials stipend and will also be eligible for two cash awards: Best in Show and People's Choice.

A jury of three will select the sculptures for the exhibition and award the Best in Show upon installation. An opening reception will be held on the Museum campus on Friday, November 25.

A silent auction for each sculpture will take place throughout the exhibition period with the proceeds being split between the artist and Arts@Large. Each artist can set the opening bid for their piece.

Proposals are due September 20th!
