Buffalo Nation (Bison bison) is a piece of theatrical music created by composer & Milwaukee native, Jerome Kitzke and librettist, Kathleen Masterson. Through music and text the work will illuminate the huge and varied story of the American Bison from pre-history to present time, including the herd's late 19th century decimation. This story, which is simultaneously tragic and redemptive, ecological and social, was inspired from historical records, contemporary ecological writings, contemporary fiction, aural histories of the Great Plains Indian Nations, and from imagination.

The Shops of Grand Avenue & MiKE Unveil Pop-Up

Pop-Up is a program developed by The Shops of Grand Avenue and MiKE , an initiative of the Greater Milwaukee Committee Pop-Up at The Shops of Grand Avenue will reinvent former retail space into a shared-space collaborative on the west side of the mall.  Artists, designers & vendors of all kinds are encouraged to collectively lease a space to sell their wares, work on their art and grow their business through collaboration.

Other communities such as Portland, Washington D.C., and Pittsburgh have successfully used pop-up stores as a way to cultivate local retail innovation and liven up empty storefronts. Jones Lang LaSalle, The Shops of Grand Avenue's management company, is taking a similar approach to attract tenants to 10 vacant spaces on the West side of the mall.   Lease terms are available in 3 month, 6 month and 1 year options starting at $100.00/month.  The official Open House Showcase event is Thursday, April 26th at 6pm next to Radio Shack.
