March is National Reading Month, a celebration that encourages reading every day and promotes the value of reading. This month, we’re sharing information about our resources for families and educators, and how you can use these resources to increase awareness and use of evidence-based literacy instruction in your school and community.

Visit Virginia PTA

NCIL partnered with Virginia PTA to provide evidence-based literacy resources for Family Reading Night events. Visit the Family Reading Night Toolkit to find activities for family reading events, educational flyers to print and share with families, literacy workshops, and more.

Traditional literacy diagnostic tools can be biased against minority populations. Research is being done on new types of assessments that more accurately evaluate the literacy skills of culturally and linguistically diverse families. View the infographic to learn more!

Spotlight on TA

NCIL in Puerto Rico!

 

On March 14th and 15th, NCIL is collaborating with Lectores para el futuro to train around 100 educators and administrators on evidence-based literacy practices and implementing explicit reading instruction based on the science of reading. NCIL will also be meeting with territory partners to further promote the goals of the Multisectoral Coalition for Reading.
