Seeking Grant Proposals from Companies and Communities
Need help reducing toxics in your company or community? TURI is accepting grant applications for projects that reduce toxic chemical use in Massachusetts. Submit an application by July 22, 2022 in one of the categories below.
Small Business Grants of up to $10,000
are available for businesses that provide services directly to consumers. Past grants were awarded to auto mechanic and body shops, gymnastics facilities, dry cleaners, breweries, restaurants and more.
Industry Grants of up to $30,000 are available for manufacturing facilities to improve processes or install technology that results in reducing toxics. Get financial help for a faster return on investment.


Community Grants of up to $20,000 are available for organizations, municipalities and statewide organizations seeking to reduce toxic chemical use in their neighborhoods.

Director's Corner: From Baskut Tuncak
I had the pleasure of meeting many of you at the April 13 continuing education conference in Marlborough, where I spoke about the connection between reducing use of toxic chemicals and the impact on human rights. Today I want to share an important development along those lines.

Last week, delegates representing 187 countries from around the world took a long-anticipated step to address the global public health crisis facing workers. On June 10, the International Labour Conference (ILC) decided to include “safe and healthy working environments” as one of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO’s) Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

By contrast, when the ILO adopted four fundamental principles and rights at work in 1998, none of these rights included occupational safety and health. Read more.
Island Dog Brewery Finds Safer Cleaners
Island Dog Brewery found a safer vat cleaner to limit exposure to harmful chemicals and reduce operational environmental impacts.

You're Invited: Community Champions Online Event on June 22
The Massachusetts Legislature's Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture is hosting TURI’s community grantees for an online legislative briefing and recognition event. Become a Toxics Use Reduction Planner
Does your company need an in-house toxics use reduction planner? Does your consulting firm want to provide toxics use reduction planning services for your Massachusetts clients? If the answer is yes, please plan to join the next Toxics Use Reduction Planner certification course.

The online part of the course begins Thursday, August 11, with a required kick-off web meeting. After completing the online portion of the course, we will hold four in-person classes in Lowell between September 29 and October 27. Learn more and apply to attend the course.
