Libraries Receive $13M for Capital Projects

Governor Wes Moore and the Board of Public Works recently approved $13 million for eight public library construction projects across the state. The funding, made possible by the Maryland State Library Agency's County Library Capital Grant Program, will support much needed capital improvement projects in Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick, Kent, Montgomery, Washington and Wicomico counties. Welcome to Maryland Libraries Today, the Maryland State Library Agency's new quarterly newsletter. There’s a lot happening in Maryland libraries. MD Libraries 'Unearth a Story'

The Maryland State Library Agency spent the summer traveling to Summer Reading and Learning Programs at public libraries across the state, where thousands of Marylanders took part in programs, events, reading challenges and other activities. The theme this year was "Unearth a Story." Libraries brought in partners, developed programs and served customers with enthusiasm all summer long.

LSTA Staff Development Grants

The Maryland State Library Agency this summer distributed Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds to public libraries as part of an annual investment of more than $1 million in staff development. By investing in staff, the Agency ensures libraries have the skilled, knowledgeable and innovative workforce they need to meet the needs of their communities.

Baltimore County Public Library, Enoch Pratt Free Library and The Maryland State Library for the Blind and Print Disabled provided activities, games and information to hundreds of fans that stopped by to visit. The State Librarian was interviewed on MASN too!
