Dear Community Members & Agency Partners,
We are pleased to announce that Takija Gardner has been selected as the new Chief Executive Officer of 4Cs of Alameda County. After a thorough and thoughtful recruitment process led by our board’s CEO Search Committee, we are confident that Takija is the right leader to guide the organization into its next chapter. Her first day will be Monday, September 8, 2025.
Takija brings with her over 20 years of experience in social service program development and nonprofit leadership. She has spent the last two decades working her way through the ranks of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco organization, where she most recently held the position of Senior Vice President of Government Relations and External Affairs, a role in which she built an exceptional track record for building sustainable programs, impacting social change, and creating community partnerships. Takija’s approach is rooted in collaboration and strategic planning, and she shares the agency's unwavering commitment to uplifting families. She is eager to immerse herself into the organizational culture that makes 4Cs such a vital part of the community.
We are truly excited to welcome Takija aboard. We thank you in advance for embracing her with open arms, and for showing her what makes Alameda County so special.

Their ability to be flexible, while being accommodating to EVERYONE, is heartwarming!” | | When 4Cs of Alameda County’s Hayward Promise Neighborhoods team reached out to our colleagues at Tandem, Partners in Early Learning about forming a partnership to make 4Cs’ HPN Play & Learn playgroup a joint effort, the team at Tandem knew just the right person to add to the project. Violetta Archuleta, or Ms. V as she is affectionately called by Play & Learn participants, is Tandem’s Early Childhood Specialist and 4Cs’ newest HPN Play & Learn Facilitator. Described by 4Cs staff as kind-hearted, friendly, and thoughtful, Violetta brings enthusiasm and her early literacy expertise to the playgroups every week. She is a joy to work with and, in just a few short weeks, has become a beloved member of the HPN playgroup team. | | 4Cs Back to School Giveaways Support 624 Children | | |
Summer has flown by, and the RISE Team at 4Cs was there to support lots of excited students with our annual Back to School Giveaways in July.
On July 24, we threw open the gates of our Hayward office’s open-air garage and welcomed families to choose backpacks for children preschool through elementary school. They also received school supplies, books, water bottles, dental kits, and boxes of assorted produce. Though the initial event at our Oakland office was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, we spent the afternoon of July 31 giving away backpacks, school supplies, water bottles, and dental kits under tents in the parking lot. We were excited to co-present our giveaway with the Eat.Learn.Play. Bus, where families stopped by for meals, produce, and books. Then with a few backpacks left, we invited parents from our waiting list to pick up backpacks, bringing us to a grand total of 624 children served. The 4Cs Hayward Promise Neighborhoods (HPN) Team, in collaboration with Family Paths, celebrated parents for completing the Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors series. Over the summer, parents engaged in meaningful conversations, built strong connections, and shared experiences around their children’s development. The series empowered them to become advocates for their families and to support their children’s educational success.

We invite you to our HPN's Toddler Play and Learn! Families with children ages 18 months to 4 years old who reside in the Downtown Hayward Promise Neighborhood are welcome to join our bilingual playgroup, Spanish & English, that focuses on fostering their social, physical, and emotional development alongside pre-school readiness and literacy. Have a great time with your child while you learn and engage together!

This program is intended for families residing in the Downtown Hayward neighborhood who are not using formal early care and education programs.

Our Hayward Promise Neighborhoods (HPN) department is gearing up for the kickoff of their Spanish Parent Promise Academy. The Parent Promise Academy welcomes parents from all backgrounds to join with others in the community to share and learn from one another's experiences. This program utilizes the Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors curriculum, which focuses on the various developmental stages of children ages 0 to 8 years old. Join the 10 weekly in-person sessions at Cherryland Elementary School. Breakfast will be provided!
