Dear Beloved Community,
The time has come for me to write my final 4Cs Newsletter article. Beginning as a graduate student intern at 4Cs, and leaving as the CEO, has consumed 39 years of my life. It was an amazing experience, and I would not trade anything for the journey. I leave incredibly proud of the work we have done and feel encouraged for the continued work of this organization.
I will miss the day-to-day connections and involvement in the family resources and early care and education community. I am grateful for every family, personal, and professional connection made over the years. I hope and look forward to connecting with you in other ways post-retirement.
My job has been made easier by - and because of - the incredible competent and compassionate leadership team and staff of 4Cs. Thank you for all you do for children, families, and caregivers.
In addition, unlike most positions who report to one person, I have had experience of reporting to a nonprofit board of directors. Our board of directors are committed to the services we provide and their responsibilities for governance and oversight. It is with immense joy that I transition out knowing that 4Cs has a very skilled and competent board of directors. We are proud of the fact that, because of our recruitment intentionality, our board is also atypically diverse and reflects the communities we serve. I am a better leader because of their support.
Thanks to each of you for the kindness shown to me. I appreciate every conversation, every word of encouragement, every congratulatory gift and card received. The future is bright, and I will be on the sidelines cheering you on.
Be well,
Renee S. Herzfeld
