NEWS ALERT

Winston Farm Public Hearing

Sept. 21, 2022 at 6 p.m.

Town of Saugerties officials will host the FIRST public hearing on Winston Farm on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022 at 6 p.m.

The meeting, at the Frank D. Greco Memorial Senior Center, located at 207 Market St., Saugertiesmay set further discussion about the project moving forward, so it's CRITICAL supporters show up.

Ulster Strong encourages attendance at this meeting to show support for continuing the statutory review process of this proposed project.

The public hearing enables the community to suggest considerations for inclusion in the public scoping. This will help define which studies are required to ensure the project is sensitive to the environment. Factors, such as economic impact, housing, job creation and new opportunities for local businesses, will help shape the project.

WINSTON FARM PROJECT BENEFITS INCLUDE

Housing

Hundreds of jobs (both during construction and ongoing)

Additional tax revenue for town, schools and county

New tourism and economic opportunities

Preservation of a substantial portion of the Winston Farm property

Opponents of this development plan to descend on the meeting to try to stop further review of the proposal.

Let's help local representatives know that anti-development voices are not the only ones in Ulster County, and that the proposal must be given due consideration based on its numerous merits, not misinformation.

ABOUT WINSTON FARM PROJECT

Winston Farm is a planned mixed-use destination venue designed to bring transformative vitality and an economic powerhouse to Saugerties and the Hudson Valley.

·     840 acres of premium property adjacent to the New York State Thruway’s Exit 20.

·     Proposed uses include tourism, entertainment, recreation, commercial/retail, technology, hospitality, housing and significant open space

·     Planned as an economic engine for the region through the birth of several thousand jobs and generation of substantial tax revenue.

·     Preservation of significant amounts of open space, to protect the property’s rich history, natural gifts, beauty and charm through parks and trails for public enjoyment.

·     Winston Farm is best known for hosting the Woodstock ’94 music festival. It also has long been considered a desirable property due to its location, scale, topography and scenic views.

·     These amenities led Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, a nonprofit organization that promotes balanced and sustainable growth, to previously designate Winston Farm as the top prime development location in the Hudson Valley.

Community Roots, Community Collaboration

Saugerties residents and business owners Anthony Montano, John Mullen and Randy Richers purchased Winston Farm in 2020 from the Schaller family, which had owned it since 1961. Montano, Mullen and Richers are committed to closely collaborating with the Saugerties community and municipal leaders on the project’s details to ensure this dynamic destination will amplify economic opportunity, pride and quality of life.

Community Endorsement

The Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Winston Farm. “Winston Farm is a visionary proposal that will powerfully energize Ulster County and the entire Hudson Valley as a deep source of culture, employment opportunities, tax revenue and housing for generations to come,” Board of Directors Chairman John Burlingham said.
