Q & A with Ray

Raymond Goyco, Jr. is CEO at Baker Aviation Services Group, the Master Distributor of HOT-STOP 'L' Fire Containment for more than 17-years ago. His knowledge of lithium-ion battery containment in today's powerful portable devices is exceptional and his passion for safety goes above and beyond.

What Size Kit Do I Need?

Since we began working with Industrial Energy Produce (IEP) to distribute HOT-STOP ‘L’ Fire Containment Kits in 2007 our focus has always been to provide our customers the best solution for the safety of their crew and passengers. This customer-centric mission uncovered the need for multiple sizes of kits to choose from but there is more to consider than just the dimensions of the device you need to contain. Today’s lithium battery powered devices can be rather small in stature but more powerful than a large device. We take this detail very seriously when helping clients choose the appropriate kit size and probably why the largest HOT-STOP ‘L’ XL kit is our most popular. Aligning with most airline requirements of a maximum 100 watt hour (wh) li-ion battery device allowed onboard in the cabin, the XL or Laptop vessel is designed and successfully tested by an FAA-authorized laboratory to contain the 100 wh device. Even though a small power bank fits into the tablet size kit it could have 100 wh so we would recommend the larger vessel to effectively contain the power of its runaway and possible explosion. Our recent tablet test and video (available here) depict a new 43.2 wh tablet being fully contained in the tablet size kit for which it is designed. In conclusion, the size and power of the battery in the mobile device matters when choosing the right size HOT-STOP ‘L’ Kit and our team is always available to assist you with your kit selection.
