This Sunday...

Some churches observe this Sunday as Rally Day or Homecoming Sunday. It marks the beginning of a new church year along the lines of the academic calendar. We will mark the beginning of a return to a 9:30 service of worship, the return of the Chancel Choir from their summer hiatus, and a return of Faith Formation for our young people. We will also have a time of silent prayer commemorating 9/11. You are most cordially invited to join the service via livestream or in-person at 9:30 a.m. "Come early and get a back pew!"

“Scarves and Hats in the Square”

As we prepare for the colder seasons, Stitches of Love is getting ready for Scarves and Hats in the Square on Friday, November 3.

In addition to scarves, this year we are adding knitted or crocheted HATS to our local fall Outreach project. Any styles or colors are welcome - for kids, women and men! If you would like to contribute your hand-stitched projects, they can be dropped off in the Church Office. And we have plenty of free yarn available.

The Laconia Daily Sun covered how our church is working with the Belknap County Conservation District to help feed our community through the Gleaning Program. Here's the story incase you missed it!

The Lakes Region Cancer Support Team's Dragon Boat Festival benefits the organization's efforts to provide support groups, workshops and more free of charge for men, women, teens and children impacted by cancer. Blazing Paddles - a team made up of members and friends of our church who have been touched by cancer - is participating in the event. Team members are: Jane & Pat Wood, Andy & Kathy Giovanni, Margie Kreitler, Beth Shehadi & Dave Bouchard, Diane Lockwood, Granville Barrows, and Campbell & Eileen Lovett.

Anyone who would like to support the team and LRCST's mission, can donate online directly to Blazing Paddle's fundraising page: https://checkout.square.site/buy/R3CIAVW46BAEQ4I3O56NOLBT

HELP ERASE MEDICAL DEBT

We can all appreciate the high cost of medical care. Millions of Americans are trapped in a cycle of debt they never can re-pay. But we can make a big difference through a group called RIP Medical Debt. This group uses its legal expertise to negotiate the elimination of medical debts at pennies on the dollar, so your small contribution can go a long way to address the injustice of staggering medical debts. The Outreach Committee has decided to answer the challenge offered by our very own Merrimack Association to raise money for this organization. With all the churches in the Association working together, our collective sharing will make a huge difference. We have started a fund and dedicated $500 towards it and hope that you will add your gift. You can send a check to the Church Office made out to the Church with RIP in the memo line.

Thank you from the Outreach Committee!

MEN'S BREAKFAST

September 15th & 29th - Water Street Cafe - 8 a.m.

The Dorcas Fund

In 1960, the Diaconate of Congregational Church of Laconia established the Dorcas Fund. The fund is named for the biblical figure, Dorcas, who was known for her good works and acts of mercy. Our church’s Dorcas Fund is used in that same spirit - helping church members and friends to meet emergency needs that unexpectedly confront them. The Fund also assists non-members of the church in three specific areas: gas for medical appointments, heating oil, and assistance to avoid shut-off of electricity. While the Diaconate still provides oversite of the Dorcas funds, it is confidentially administered by the Pastor and/or the Financial Secretary.

Church members are invited to seek assistance when needed – or to offer financial support

of the fund when possible.
