Congregational Church of Laconia, UCC

Come enjoy a simple supper with soups, breads and desserts prepared by our Diaconate. Our theme this year is Prayer led by our Pastor. All are welcome!

We Won the ”Souper” Bowl!

We just got the news that our team, the

“Congregationalists of Laconia”, collected

approximately 180 cans of nutritious soup on the

day of the big game. The food-insecure in our

community were the real winners on “Souper” Bowl

Sunday. Thank you, congregation, for making this

outreach effort so successful.

Monetary donations to the pantry can be made by

sending a check, with Little Food Pantry written in

the memo line, to the church office or placing it in

the offering plate. Shelf stable food donations can

be brought to church at any time. Look for the

collection boxes by each of the sanctuary doors, or

place items directly in the pantry itself.

The Travails of Travel -Lunch and Learn

On Wed, Feb. 29 at Noon, meet in Church Hall to hear a member of our church community, Mary Carpenter, talk with us about the travails of her many experiences while traveling. Mary Carpenter lived in Turkey for ten years. During that time she traveled both in and outside of Turkey. Hijacked planes, snowy mountain passes, and difficult border crossings are all part of that experience.

A Lively Display

Take a walk through the elevator lobby of our church and you will be

rewarded with a trip through time. Photos and memorabilia from our church's

Educational Ministries past are sure to bring a smile to your face. You may see

some familiar faces if you have deep roots here. Spend some time examining

artifacts from last century - all the way back to 1910! Photos, pamphlets,

manuals, and handmade creations paint a portrait of how church life has evolved

over a large swath of our nearly 200 year old history. The display is colorful and

artfully arranged, and speaks to the vitality of our church both past and present.

Wear your coat - it's a chilly space - but well worth the detour!

Dear Church family:

The coming of the 200 anniversary of the church. Your parish has helped many people of the community, including my family. Through the up and downs of life, God plans have a reason for everything. Being patience and understanding of the word of God. Be on the look out for the coming of the LORD. Steed fast. Lent is a time of reflect on the word of God. The 40 days and 40 nights, is not just to give up something, but what can you change. Life has sometimes large mountains to climb, understanding and being patience; is what the Lord wants us to do. Look around you, you have other churches and community looking at you for guidance (Got Lunch, neighbors helping neighbors, Belknap House) just to name a few.

Be happy with your health, (even if it creeks and pops), Be joyful for having shelter. Most of all, feel the love that this church has done in the last 200 years.

       God Bless,

Jenn Black, Raymond Marden and Ivy
