Afternoon Hike at Gunstock Mountain
Supper at the Bastille Gazebo, and Vesper Service
Sunday Afternoon, 3 ~ 7 p.m. June 23, 2024
All are welcome!

3:00 p.m. Jean Clarke is leading a hike for us at Gunstock Mountain. Gather at the parking lot of the Gunstock Inn, 580 Cherry Valley Road, Gilford to car pool over to Gunstock. The hike will be to the Wetlands Boardwalk* at Gunstock which is a flat walk of about 1.5 to 2 miles and leads to a beautiful little spot hidden among the pines. Most will find it an "easy" walk in the woods with wide paths that would take about 1 hour. RSVP to Jean Clarke at 603.455.9702 or jeanclarke56@gmail.com" so she doesn't leave anyone behind and she can reach out if the weather is not conducive.
3:00 to 5:00 p.m. For those not wanting to hike, come early to relax with Dick and Maurine at their Gazebo. The Bastille property is adjacent to the Gunstock Inn and has a nice view of Lake Winnipesaukee. Walk or drive up the lane to get to their home. Permission has been given for us to park at the Gunstock Inn that afternoon.
5:00 p.m. Picnic Supper Hot Ham sandwiches or Turkey Sloppy Joes with sides and dessert. See Hollis Thompson or Betty Bergstrom if you’d like to bring an appetizer, side dish or dessert.
6:30 p.m. Vesper Service at the Bastille Outdoor Chapel
For more info: Dick and Maurine Bastille (603) 293-0353 or Louise Bastille (603)630-8804.
This event is sponsored by the 200th Anniversary Committee; another time to gather as church family for fellowship and worship.

Creating an In-House Photo Directory

Have you ever been to Church “in-person” and looked at someone and say “I

recognize the face but for the life of me, I cannot remember the name?” Trust

us, it happens all of the time! The Members of the Diaconate are in the process of

working with the Church Office to add photos to our current Church Directory!

This will help all of us associate a photo with a person and their name…it is more

helpful than you can imagine! Here’s how you can help us accomplish this

goal:

  • Send a good photo of you, you and your husband or wife, or you and your family (facial photos are best) to Carolyn Jorgensen at carolyn@laconiaucc.org so that she can add this photo to your other information in the Church Windows database.
  • Please limit one photo per family
  • Perhaps you don’t have a good photo of you or you and your family? ask a friend to snap a good photo from your cellphone and send it in. Carolyn will take it from that point.
  • Still not coming together? Rumor has it that one of our members may be able to help us with this process!
  • If you have already turned in a photo, we thank you!
  • Don’t forget to send any “changes” (moved, phone #, e-mail address) you may have to your church directory information to Carolyn Jorgensen as well. She cannot update it if you have not shared it with her!
  • Please remember we do not share our Church Directory with anyone outside of the church so you can be assured your photos are safe with us!

Although there is not a firm “deadline” for collecting this information, the

sooner we receive your photos, the sooner we can share the directory with

you and the sooner you can start putting names and faces together! A copy

of the directory is always available in the church office or it can be sent to

you via e-mail at your request.

Bob Harrington has been working hard updating our first history book from

our first 150 years. This new history book is a timeline of events from 1774 with the history of early Congregationalism in the Lakes Region to the present, with lots of fabulous photos.

The book will be available for $5.00 to help defer the cost;

and will be available. Date to be determined.

Got Lunch Laconia Starts Season 14

Got Lunch! is grateful to the Congregational Church of Laconia for hosting its program for the 14th consecutive year. We could not provide nutritious food to the food-insecure children of Laconia each summer without the generosity of this congregation.

The first delivery of food to the school age children of Laconia will be Monday, June 24. But the use of the church hall will start on Friday, June 21 when the preparation for Monday’s delivery starts.

Got Lunch! deliveries will continue on each Monday morning during the summer. The final delivery will be on Monday, August 26.

During this 10 week period the church hall will be in use by GL! each Sunday morning. This means that Coffee Hours will need to be hosted outdoors or on the bridge/second floor of the Parish House. Each committee should plan accordingly. The exception to this schedule will be on Sunday, July 28th when the church celebrates its 200th anniversary in Church Hall. GL! will delay their use of Church Hall till after the celebration is finished.

It is people like you who help to make Laconia a better place to bring up children–even when it means some inconvenience to our orderly church life. The children of Laconia and Got Lunch! Thank you!
