Bank of New Hampshire has seen an increase in business clients receiving calls from fraudsters impersonating BNH employees.
How the Scam Works
1. The caller claims to be from BNH’s Fraud or Treasury/Cash Management department.
2. They say a fraudulent transaction (ex. ACH or Wire Transfer) is being attempted on your account.
3. They provide a link or direct you to a fake website to log into Online Banking.
4. They will ask you to provide them with a One-Time Access Code that they send you. The One-Time code is generated by BNH’s system because they are attempting to log into your Online Banking, using the credentials obtained from the fake site.
5. Once they have your log-in credentials and One-Time Access Code, they will gain full access to your accounts.
How to Keep Your Accounts Safe
BNH will never:
1. Send you a link or direct you to log into Online Banking. Always log in directly through BNH.BANK or the BNH Mobile app.
2. Ask for your One-Time Access Code. This code should never be shared with anyone.
If You Receive a Suspicious Call
1. Ask for the caller’s name and department.
2. Hang up and call us directly at 1.800.832.0912.
Your security is our top priority. Please contact us anytime if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued trust in Bank of New Hampshire as we continue to keep your accounts safe.
