SHELVING NEEDED

In an effort to organize the "Craft" room so we can actually do crafts, we want to build sturdy shelving to stack and store our Rummage sale & Christmas Fair items, leaving the area in the center of the room, for crafts.

If you have any heavy duty shelving or 8 foot 2x4 that you would like to donate please reach out to Hollis Thompson, Nancy Smath, or Beth Shehadi.

I once planted a single tulip bulb in the corner of one of my garden beds. One of my daughters, both now in their 30s, brought the bulb home from Church School as a follow-up to the day’s lesson. In a bulb there is a flower, in a seed an apple tree??? As any mother would, I helped find a spot where we could plant it and watch the magic happen. Snow had to come and go and spring showers and April’s warmth replace it before a beautiful red tulip bloomed–a thrill for us all.

Over the years, that tulip came up every spring and began multiplying–first two, then four, six, as many as ten or twelve lovely red tulips brightened that same corner of the garden. Until they didn’t. Leaves emerged, but no more blooms. Oh, well, I thought. They were pretty while they lasted.

Flash-forward to Covid-times. In the fall of 2020, my daughters grown and gone, I decided to dig up my garden beds and redesign them. When I got to the “tulip corner”, I dug carefully and was astounded to find 80 bulbs where that flowerless clump was! Most were tiny, but I separated them and spread them out over the whole garden bed, planting them with a bit of bone meal and a prayer.

Since then, lots of healthy green leaves have come up with a few tulip blooms among them…at first. Then a few more blooms. And more yet. Today, I’m enjoying the warm sun and a light breeze in my yard as I look in awe at the garden bed where I once planted a single tulip bulb brought home from Church School. Sixty-seven beautiful red tulips are making my heart sing!

Taking action and feeding and patiently tending that which we want to flourish in the world pays off! To God be the glory!!!
