Save the date for our Book Launch!
Join us on Sunday, June 29, 2025, for a delightful coffee hour celebration of our book launch! Come and indulge in some scrumptious cake!
Purchase a copy of our book and have it signed by our fantastic editor, Bob Harrington.
We’re thrilled to celebrate two hundred years of the Congregational Church of Laconia, founded in 1824. Our book, a history compiled by Robert M. Harrington, the editor, is a testament to our faith and our forward-looking spirit.
Now, let’s test your knowledge with a few fun questions:
1. On the back cover of the book, it says ‘Leave to Serve.’ Where can you find this in the church?
2. Remember when we voted to be a Just Peace Church? What year was that, and where can you find the certificate that recognized us as a Just Peace Church?
3. During the Pandemic, we started sharing our services on YouTube. But guess what? We actually began broadcasting our services years before that! Where can you find this mentioned in our history book?
4. Our first services were held in a house on Gilford Avenue. Where are the photos from those days located in the church?
5. When did the congregation decide to become an Open and Affirming Congregation?
6. Who made the Tree of Life Banner? Where does it hang in the church? What page is it on in the history book?
7. John Kimball Young’s portrait is hanging somewhere on the church property. Where is it located, and who took their pictures with Reverend Young? Where can you find these pictures in the history book?
8. A local artist is showing his work at the Laconia Public Library. He’s been so generous to share his art with us. Can you guess his name? Where is his drawing of the church located on church property? And what page is it on in the history book?
Have a blast answering the questions !
See you at coffee hour on Sunday!
