Blast!

October 25, 2024

Congregational Church of Laconia, UCC

In an effort to protect church members and friends from the phishing scams that target churches, we will no longer be including phone numbers in the email blast. We will continue to include email addresses, as scam email addresses tend to be easier to detect. In addition, many email servers are equipped to filter out likely scams.

If you need an updated church directory with phone numbers, please let Carmen or Eliza know, and we will get one to you.

As always, please remember that it is very unlikely that Eliza will text you asking for help in getting gift cards or other means of financial assistance. If you receive any such communications, please feel free to block the number; if you're not sure, please call the office.

The teacher from Franklin who reached out for pumpkins for her 6th grade class sent me these pictures. How sweet we were able to help make this happen for her students!!

The pumpkins are featured in downtown Laconia

Great community we live it!

Thank you to everyone who donated!

The Nominating Committee is currently working to fill positions of all standing committees in the church.

The good news is there is a strong group of people who continue to serve, but there are still several opportunities for others to join.

Right now there are openings in Diaconate, Educational Ministry, & Outreach Committee. And a golden opportunity for a Vice-Moderator.

And if you are not always in the area or don't like going out to a meeting, not to worry, every group, anytime is happy to have you join via Zoom wherever you may be.

As quoted, "Being a member of this church is not a spectator sport." Jump in!

Imagine Compassion Together

“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of it members.” Coretta Scott King

This quote definitely reminds me of the power of choice. Whether in the midst of crisis or daily routine, we are called to make choices that affect the actions that we take in any given situation. Our collective imaginations also come into play during these times. Are we imagining the best that something can be or the worst? Is our mindset based on a perspective of compassion or anxiety?

Our Mission in Motion moments have been about an actively compassionate congregation, striving to tend to the many and varied needs of our community. Our mission as a church is to be a compassionate leader in a very public story. This sometimes means having to make difficult choices. Desperation can lead us to isolation or we can honestly examine those aspects of our world that grieve us, helping to release the strength to make the choices that really matter. As you prepare for your stewardship contribution for the coming year, we encourage you to view the choices you make by imagining what our collective compassionate actions can do for not only our church community, but the wider one as well.
