Interest Rates Are Rising, but the Fed Continues to Be Reckless
The crushing issue of high inflation caused by central banks can no longer be downplayed. Public displeasure at the increasing currency devaluation has now forced monetary policy makers to act.
The US Federal Reserve (Fed) has raised its key interest rate to 1 percentage point. Many other central banks have also reacted—such as the Bank of England, the Central Bank of Australia, and the Central Bank of Sweden. Even the ponderous European Central Bank (ECB) now plans to raise interest rates at the beginning of the third quarter. Does all this mean that there will be an “interest rate reversal”?
The answer begins with a look at the fiat money system that is ubiquitous today. In the fiat money system, interest rates are not established in a “free market.” Rather, the interest rate is determined in a “restricted market.” Not only do central banks dictate the short-term interest rate, but they now also have a firm grip on the long-term interest rate through the purchase of debt securities; in principle, they can determine the interest rate to the decimal place.
The interest rate is extremely important to the fiat money system because central banks create fiat money in close cooperation with commercial banks, which lend money to consumers, producers, and governments without corresponding savings funds (renunciation of consumption). It amounts to creating money out of thin air.
Such an artificial supply of credit lowers the market interest rate below what it otherwise would have been. The artificial suppression of interest rates initially causes an economic upswing, a boom.
The boom has an impact on the economic production and employment structure: scarce resources are increasingly being invested in long-term, time-consuming projects and less in the production of consumer goods. The investment success, and thus the continuation of the boom, depends on interest rates remaining low or falling to even lower levels.....

Whistleblower Exposes Corruption at Media Matters
On Monday, Timothy Johnson, a “researcher” with Media Matters for America, announced his departure from the left-wing media watchdog organization and is pulling a Chris Cuomo in the process. In leaving the organization, Johnson blew the whistle on his former boss for covering for a sexual predator.
Johnson spilled the truth about the organization he once worked for in a long thread on Twitter, in which he revealed that Ben Dimiero, the editorial director at Media Matters, did nothing to stop a male staff member’s sexual misconduct over several years.
“This man suddenly resigned,” Johnson wrote. “And to my shame, I went out with him after work that day and we all got really drunk. He told me a sob story, I bought it, and the night ended with him being carried up to his apartment. Not too long later, I learned the truth of why he ‘resigned.’ He was dismissed because of his sexual misconduct. State Department to Announce Global ‘Racial Equity’ Chief, Leaked Email Shows
The Biden Administration’s State Department is soon going to announce the establishment of a “Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice” on June 17th, a leaked email reveals.
According to the Daily Caller, the position was first announced in April by the State Department’s own “Equity Action Plan. But the newly-obtained email reveals more details about the power that the position will have, including “institutionaliz[ing] an enterprise-wide approach to integrating racial and ethnic equity.” The email also declares that “advancing equity, addressing systemic racism, and strengthening democracy worldwide” will be considered “national security imperatives and core tenets of President Biden’s foreign policy.”
The new official, who has not yet been named, will also be responsible for “countering disinformation and societal violence aimed at…marginalized racial and ethnic communities.”

Biden's social media staff costs taxpayers as much as $6.7 million each year
President Joe Biden's social media presence may be costing taxpayers millions of dollars per year, according to an analysis of White House personnel records and recent reporting about Biden's messaging challenges.
A recent story detailing White House staff dysfunction included information attributed to spokesman Andrew Bates that more than 70 staffers help create and manage Biden's social media content. Based on salary data, the combined salary for 70 White House staffers would be roughly $6,695,436, not including equipment or other costs.
For comparison, the social media budget for large companies with more than 50 employees was generally $100,000 or more in 2021, according to the social media management platform Hootsuite. That figure would include media equipment and production costs, copywriting and editing, software, paid advertising campaigns, and salaries. The $6.7 million White House figure only accounts for the estimated salaries of the 70 White House staffers working on Biden's strategy.

Ukraine war: How weapons makers are profiting from the conflict
"The US has already approved a $9bn (£7.1bn) spending package to replenish supplies sent to Ukraine now and in the future.
Large defence companies are already seeing their share prices go up as investors anticipate the impact of the war on profits.

Over the last decade the U.S. Navy has noticed, studied and concluded that China has organized and increasingly used a naval militia that is used to enforce Chinese claims to the South China Sea and support Chinese fishery poaching efforts worldwide. Poaching is very lucrative, earning Chinese poachers over $20 billion a year. Less lucrative but militarily more useful is the growing number of large civilian ferries, especially the RoRo (Roll On, Roll Off) models for a major amphibious operation to seize Taiwan. In the last year Chinese military planners also ran some simulations from the defender’s point-of-view and included the many anti-ship weapons Taiwan and its allies would have available, even after an enemy port had been seized and reinforcements were needed to hold on to it. This is where the ferries and RoRos were essential and the staff exercises found that the civilian vessels were very vulnerable to attack and unexpected bad weather. These problems would, at the very least, render the civilian vessels unable to complete its mission and in some cases the ferries and RoRos would be lost. Arming the civilian ships with some missile-defense systems, along with sailors to operate them, would help, but not solve the problem. ... .

The U.S. Forest Service Should be more Careful with Matches
Congress and the administration have recognized the incredible challenge facing the U.S. Forest Service. The agency manages ten percent of the continental U.S. land base. They have allotted millions to rehabilitate the overgrown, fire-prone National Forests as well as billions for wildfire suppression. However, in the Forest Service’s zeal to achieve results, they are too often adding fire to the landscape. The results have unfortunately included destroying hundreds of homes and tens of thousands of acres of forest. Note to the Forest Service: please be judicious in your use of this tool -- the results can too often be devastating and even fatal. The cure (adding fire to the landscape) can be worse than the disease (potential wildfires).
Adding fire to the landscape with: 1) deliberately set prescribed fires or 2) using fire to fight wildfires, can have positive results. The same is true for managing natural ignitions (lightning) such as allowing single trees in a high elevation rocky wilderness to burn out on their own or allowing fires to creep around and clear underbrush under very tight specific conditions. Multiple Whistleblowers Allege FBI Is Purging Conservatives
According to whistleblowers in contact with the House Committee on the Judiciary, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has been executing a purge of agents and employees who engage in political speech that the FBI deems unfavorable.
In a letter addressed to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Representative Jim Jordan requested that the Bureau “cooperate fully” with the Department of Justice’s Office of Inspector General and with his committee during a requested briefing on the FBI’s conduct in response to the January 6 protests.

Inflation is the top issue by a wide margin for Americans nowadays. Biden’s inflation will soon have inflicted a 10 percent cut in the purchasing power of Americans’ paychecks. But Biden is indignant at criticism of his policies. When Peter Doocy of Fox News asked about the impact in January, Biden called him “a stupid son of a bitch.” In a March speech to Democratic members of Congress, Biden raged at being blamed for inflation: “I’m sick of this stuff! … We have to talk about it because the American people think the reason for inflation is the government spending more money. Biden Continues Obama’s ‘Fundamental Transformation’ of America
There is a quote attributed to poet Maya Angelou: “When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.” As we watch the Democrats in power destroy the American economy, it’s worth paying attention to the things they’ve said.
First and foremost is former President Barack Obama. On Oct. 30, 2008, just before the presidential election, he told a crowd in Columbia, Missouri, “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”
Most Americans probably thought Obama was simply predicting his historic election as the first Black president of the United States. But he had far more sweeping changes in mind for America, including the destruction of the oil and gas industries in the name of “climate change” and absorbing millions of illegal immigrants as a form of wealth redistribution writ large.
Once elected, Obama got right to work. Steven Chu, Obama’s energy secretary, had announced in September 2008, “Somehow, we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe,” which was $9 to $10 a gallon. In 2010, the Obama administration canceled offshore oil drilling leases in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. In 2011, a federal court held the moratorium on drilling to be illegal and ordered the leases to be reinstated. But Obama’s Department of the Interior refused to obey the court order and was held in contempt of court. Policy analysts writing at the time pointed out that the moratorium was not only damaging the economies of the gulf states but the American economy overall, sending gas prices (and therefore the prices of other goods) higher.....

The Subordinate Citizen
I recently led a group of about 100 citizens to tour Israel for nearly two weeks. Before returning to the United States, all participants had to indicate their vaccination status and take a COVID-19 test for reentry.
Anxieties swept the group as Israeli testers swabbed them.
Anyone testing positive would have to delay his or her return. That quarantine would entail spending thousands of dollars in finding scarce hotel accommodations, additional living expenses, and rebooked airline tickets — depending upon the length of the mandatory sequestration.
Contrast the tens of thousands of foreign nationals now mustering to cross illegally into the United States again this summer. They follow the already 2 million who have entered the country unlawfully since Joe Biden became president.
Does any foreign national worry about being tested for COVID-19, much less fear being turned away if he tests positive or for lack of proof of vaccination?
Or do we scrutinize far more carefully U.S. citizens entering legally their own country than we do noncitizens crossing our borders unlawfully?

It seems to this writer that the hearings of the Jan. 6 House Select Committee are a desperate attempt by the Deep State, including Democrat officials and their media allies, to brainwash the American people into delegitimizing the Republican Party. The search request was intended to bring up like-minded commentaries. Here are the first few search results to this query:
Not one of these results mentions "brainwashing." But note how the results reflect that Deep State party line on the Jan. 6 hearings. What hath the Google algorithm wrought — on the matter of brainwashing the American people into regarding the GOP with fear and loathing? Why Progressives Love Government "Experts"
In twenty-first-century America, ordinary people are at the mercy of well-paid, unelected government experts who wield vast power. That is, we live in the age of the technocrats: people who claim to have special wisdom that entitles them to control, manipulate, and manage society's institutions using the coercive power of the state.
We're told these people are "nonpolitical" and will use their impressive scientific knowledge to plan the economy, public health, public safety, or whatever goal the regime has decided the technocrats will be tasked with bringing about.

New Law Safeguards 50 Million Children From Threats Of Gun Violence By Adding Them To Supreme Court
WASHINGTON—In an effort to prevent further gun deaths among minors, Congress passed a new law Thursday safeguarding 50 million children from threats of gun violence by adding them to the Supreme Court. “This law will do the important work of protecting these kids from those who wish to harm them with guns by putting them on the bench of the U.S. Supreme Court,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), explaining the children would have the same 24/7 Secret Service detail that is offered to all justices, agents who are willing to take a bullet for the youth when they’re at the playground, a public pool, or school. “Now that these children are members of the highest court in the land, they will no longer have to worry about a rogue gunman taking their lives. This law could protect millions of children, as anyone who is found carrying a firearm in their near vicinity will be immediately detained and face criminal charges.” At press time, Pelosi emphasized that the children would be forced to recuse themselves in cases involving gun rights, due to a conflict of interest.

Elizabeth Warren Caught In Bush Outside Kavanaugh's House Wielding Tomahawk
CHEVY CHASE, MD—Police arrested a tomahawk-wielding Cherokee Indian hiding in the bushes outside Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh's home this week. After hours of questioning, authorities discovered the would-be assassin was none other than Senator Elizabeth Warren.
