On Sunday, September 11th, the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church held their annual CTC Serve day. Churches across the conference were focused on serving their community in a way that connects to the issue of hunger.
For members of First United Methodist Church of Hurst, this meant bringing in red bags full of groceries to be donated to Mission Central. The bags contained pantry staples that are given regularly to Mission Central's guests, but are often difficult or expensive to obtain. These include shelf-stable milk, canned soups, and canned meats.
Church members responded by providing 383 bags totaling 6,511 pounds of groceries. This donation has filled the shelves at the Village Pantry and will be a blessing to many families.
Special thanks to everyone who purchased food, as well as those who helped sort and transport the items. If your church or organization is interested in hosting a food drive, please contact Pantry Manager
