Estimated Tax Payments Due June 15

Estimated payments are recommended based on information supplied during the preparation of 2024 tax returns. Accurate 2025 estimated payments are necessary to avoid future interest and penalties.

If you are unsure if you were advised to make estimated payments, please review the filing instructions included with your 2024 tax return or contact our office.

Important Update: IRS to Phase Out Paper Refund Checks

A recent executive order signed on March 25, 2025, directs the U.S. Department of the Treasury to phase out paper check disbursements by September 30, 2025. As a result, the IRS will no longer issue paper checks for tax refunds after that date.

Starting October 1, 2025, tax refunds will be issued primarily through direct deposit. If you or someone you know typically receives a paper refund check, now is a good time to ensure direct deposit information is up to date with the IRS.

New Sales Tax on Short-Term Rentals

Effective March 1, 2025, New York State and local sales tax will apply to short-term rental unit occupancy when the rental rate exceeds $2.00 per unit per day. For full details, visit the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance: Short-Term Rental Sales Tax Information

All of our offices will be closing at 12:00 on Fridays starting May 23rd through August 29th as a gesture of appreciation for our hardworking team.

In Memoriam: Norm Peterson / George Wendt

“It’s a dog-eat-dog world, and I’m wearing Milk-Bone underwear.”

Join us in raising a glass to our favorite accountant, Norm Peterson — Cheers’ resident bar philosopher and champion of the extended lunch break. With the passing of George Wendt, we say goodbye to the man behind the stool, but Norm lives on in every number-cruncher who dreams of a corner office… at the bar.
