Greetings!
There is so much for which we can all be thankful. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you personally for your Falcon Flyer readership. I would like to wish you and your family a very Happy Holiday season. This time of year is very special and I hope you enjoy every moment and make it memorable. Please take a moment to remember our servicemen and women who are working to keep us safe, especially during this holiday season. A special shout out goes out to all of our BT moms and dads who are serving our great country. This is a season for giving. Please support the many efforts within our community to help others. Remember the Burlington Township Food Pantry is in need of your support, especially during the holiday season. With the holiday season upon us, more families will be turning to the Food Pantry for help. Do your part and help to make a difference and give back. I would also like to take this time to wish Dr. Manno well as he begins a new chapter in his life. We thank you for your dedication to our entire community. You will be missed. Siani Strong
|
Siani McCurry, one of our Middle School students, was diagnosed with Leukemia in March 2012 and received a Bone Marrow Transplant in Nov. 2012. She has been in the hospital since last year and continues to fight for good health. Sisi is a valued member of our school family and the BT soccer team. Members of the team recently got together to sell #Siani Strong bracelets in the Middle School to show support for Sisi. A group teammates recently made a presentation to Mr. & Mrs. McCurry to honor Sisi. Courtney James, Ifeoluwa Adewumi, Feyintoluwa Adewumi, Anissa Crump and Olufisayo Adeyina are students who truly make a difference and care deeply for their friend. These young ladies rallied the entire school to show support for Sisi.
A special FaceBook page has been established to allow the community to follow Sisi and show her support. Take a moment to visit FaceBook and like the Team Sisi page. It would be great if her page received 1,000 likes during the holidays.

Burlington Township Teacher of the Year Acknowledgements
|

Dear Staff and Administration:
There is no greater honor for an educator than to be recognized by students, parents, and colleagues for excellence and contribution to the field. Please join in congratulating the Burlington Township 2014-15 Building Teachers of the Year, and the 2014-15 Burlington Township School District Teacher of the Year.
B. Bernice Young School - Ms. Beth Baker, Special Education Teacher
Ms. Baker has served as a teacher in Burlington Township for ten years. She is currently a Pre-School Disabilities classroom teacher. She is truly a teacher leader. She routinely coordinates instructional reinforcement strategies with support staff, collaborates about best practices with colleagues, and plans daily with case managers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other staff to promote student progress. She maintains student interest through creative techniques, humorous and imaginative strategies, which all support student learning. She provides opportunities for students to demonstrate understanding through assessment techniques geared to individual student's abilities. Ms. Baker sees the strengths in her students. She takes time to see the whole child. It can be challenging for her students to articulate their feelings about Beth. One student simply stated, quite lovingly, "Ms. Baker does a good job."
Fountain Woods Elementary School - Ms. Leslie Ghaul, Elementary Classroom Teacher
Ms. Ghaul has been a teacher in Burlington Township for seventeen years. She currently teaches fourth grade in an In-Class Resource setting. Ms. Ghaul teaches all four main content areas, carefully designing engaging lessons and learning activities that are differentiated to meet the diverse needs of her students. Her lessons are hands-on and fun. Leslie genuinely cares for the children in her class. She creates a warm and inviting classroom in which the children feel safe and loved. Ms. Ghaul sets high standards and expectations for both academic performance and behavior. Her students rise to the expectations due to Leslie's apparent care and love for them.
Leslie's students say:
