DIGITAL POWER LUNCH
On Tuesday, May 21st, CUP hosted a Power Lunch gathering fifty power players from the digital and tech industries to facilitate information exchange and industry connections. The keynote conversation featured Troy Carter, Founder and CEO of Atom Factory, and Vivien Lewit, Director of Music Content Partnerships at YouTube.
DISTINGUISHED LEADERSHIP SERIES: SHANE SMITH IN CONVERSATION WITH TOM FRESTON
On Tuesday, May 21st, CUP hosted the latest event in its Distinguished Leadership Series:
Shane Smith in Conversation with Tom Freston. The event explored the role of technology in the artistic process, the next frontier for digital content creation and distribution, and the importance of balancing creative integrity and commerce.
2013 WHITE HOUSE BUSINESS LEADERS SUMMIT
On Thursday, May 23rd, CUP, Business Forward, and the White House Business Council co-hosted the Second Annual Business Leaders Summit, and the Tech-Inclusion Revolution. Through a variety of policy discussions and interactive breakout sessions led by senior Obama Administration officials, this year's event provided information, inspiration, and opportunities to generate public/private collaborations and ideas around some of our country's most pressing challenges and opportunities.
BOARD SERVICE 101: DEVELOP YOUR BOARD GOVERNANCE SKILLS LEAD WITH IMPACT
On Tuesday, June 25th, CUP hosted its inaugural board training workshop. Hosted by Deutsche Bank, the event featured a facilitated workshop on how to create a strong, positive impact on the organizations we serve, as well as on the people and communities that the organizations serve. The areas explored included non-profit board governance, leadership, responsibilities and overall effectiveness.

Tsedey Betru, 2010 CUP Fellow, has been appointed by the office of the Mayor of the City of Memphis, to serve as Project Manager of the Mayor's Innovation Delivery Team. For more information Click here.
Sheena Foster, 2012 CUP Fellow, was selected as an International Research Fellow at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa to conduct a five-month study/research on Labor, Policies and Globalization.
Jennifer Turner, 2010 CUP Fellow, accepted a role at Russell Reynolds Associates in Los Angeles within its consumer and digital media department.

GILLIBRAND WOMEN'S MENTORING INITIATIVE
CUP welcomes the second class of leaders to the Gillibrand Women's Mentoring Initiative. In 2011, Senator Gillibrand called on the Partnership for New York City and CUP to help build the pipeline of women who aspire to advance their career, grow their strategic network, and serve on high-impact boards of nonprofit organizations. Mentees were matched with Senior Managing Directors, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Financial Officers, General Counsels, Managing Partners, Chief Information Officers, Senior Vice Presidents and Vice Chairmen from Fortune 100 Companies across the financial services, law, media & entertainment, real estate, consulting, public relations, retail, and luxury goods sectors. The initiative will run from June to December 2013 and will include a luncheon with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
CASTLEOAK SECURITIES ESTABLISHES TWO SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS
David R. Jones, CUP Board Member, Co-Founder and President of CastleOak Securities, L.P., has established two Scholarship Funds: at Boston University School of Management and at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
