Further Version 4.5 Previews

This month, we're showing a couple of new screens for the upcoming version. These are going to be among the first things you see while starting the program.

First, the new login screen:


This is the particular screen for Musicware; the ExtremePOS and Praiz ones will be different in terms of the logo but otherwise identical.  As frequently requested, we're adding the ability to log out without exiting the software, so those of you looking to do this may see this screen much more often.

Once you've logged in, though, you're going to get to a new screen, a sample of which is below:


Some of the look and feel of this screen is still in the works, but this is pretty close to the final state.  There's a lot going on here, so we'll go through it.
  • Along the top are the menus, allowing you access to other sections like the employee maintenance previewed last month.
  • Below there are a variety of reports and tools that may be displayed.  These are limited by the permissions of the cashier logged in.
  • Currently displayed are reports, for top spending customers, top selling items, special order and preorders that are ready for pickups, and sales over the last week.
  • Among other available options, there are a to-do checklist section and a messaging function, allowing you to communicate with employees.
  • Other reports available include one for upcoming shifts for the logged in cashier, one for recent items sold, and one for recent items traded in.
Reminders

These are mostly things that we beat the drum on somewhat frequently here, but we still have customers who are unaware.  There are a few things you should be certain you are doing with your point of sale:

  • Make certain you are making regular backups of your database, and that you're getting these off of the server computer.  We recommend using a USB flash drive or an external hard drive.  You can set the backup location from the administrator tools button.
  • Make certain you have an antivirus running.  If nothing else, Microsoft Security Essentials is available for Vista and Windows 7, and the equivalent Windows Defender comes installed on Windows 8 and 10 by default.
  • With version 4.0 of ExtremePOS, we have discontinued support for Windows XP.
