When Will We Paint the Sanctuary Walls?

Leak and plaster repairs in the Sanctuary were completed in late September. Then, the plaster needed to completely dry so that the engineers could conduct moisture testing on interior plaster. As you may have noticed, there is still a dark area in the upper left corner of the altar wall. The engineer and contractor assessed and performed additional flashing work at the exterior chimney area and then did an exterior rain simulation test, which showed no further water intrusion. Junior Warden Brett Hacker has asked the engineers to monitor the area during upcoming natural rain events, perform another rain simulation test, and check the area with a moisture meter regularly through December to be sure the leaks are gone. Then, we will contract with painters, who are booking a month out, so we hope to paint in January or February.

SERVICE IN THE CHURCH & COMMUNITY

2024 Annual Giving Update

Merry Christmas everyone! As you enjoy the wide array of Christmas Services this week, whether it is the joyful organized chaos of the Christmas Pageant or the nostalgic warmth of one of the Christmas Eve Eucharist services, please prayerfully consider making your Annual Fund Pledge to help sustain Holy Trinity. We remain significantly behind where we were last year at this time in both total participants and funds pledged but hope to finish the year on a positive note. Thank you for your support.

Please make your Annual Giving pledge online by clicking heremailing in your pledge card, or placing a card in the offering plate this Sunday. If you need a Pledge Card and an envelope, they are available at almost every entry to our buildings. Every pledge counts, so please join us in being ALL IN FOR HT!

EYC UPDATES

Registration for Bishop’s Ball is Open!

We will be renting a van and traveling to Camp Walter Johnson together as a youth group. Bishops’ Ball, one of the most beloved diocesan gatherings for youth, is back in person for a weekend event on Jan. 19-21, 2024, at Camp Walter Johnson. This is a diocesan event for both middle and high school youth to engage with the bishops, attend workshops, and have fun and fellowship with their peers. This year's event will include all the favorite activities: music, workshops, building community, worship, and a special dinner and dance on Saturday night. The highlight of course is the dance on Saturday and both of our bishops will be there, dancing the night away with us!

The deadline to register is Jan. 7. Register here.

Confirmation Starts in January 2024

Confirmation is a sacrament for anyone who wants to deepen and recommit to their faith. It's recommended for ninth grade and higher. There will be four classes and one weekend retreat. Confirmation candidates will work closely with an adult mentor and attend Holy Week worship services together. More information is coming soon!

Save the Date for Glory Ridge!

PILGRIMAGES

In the Footsteps of Jesus: Holy Land Pilgrimage

Oct. 13-24, 2024, 13 days

In light of the current situation, I know that it is difficult to imagine a pilgrimage in the Holy Land. As we pray for our Jewish, Muslim, and Christian brothers and sisters in the Holy Land, we still need to get registration open for next October’s pilgrimage.

What I am asking at this time is for you to sign up as if everything were safe and the trip were able to move ahead. I am delaying the requirement for non-refundable deposits until the point at which we know the trip is going to happen. I have been in close contact with my guide friends in Jerusalem over the last week. They had a group with them at the time that the violence broke out. They were able to complete the pilgrimage and are now working to get the last four pilgrims out of the country. Iyad Qumri and his son Rami are the gold standard for Anglican/Episcopal pilgrimage in the Holy Land and I trust them completely. They will not let us move forward unless they feel completely safe.

I anticipate limiting our group to 25 people, so please sign up quickly to assure yourself of a spot.

Click here to sign up and click here to read a sample itinerary from the last time our group was there (September 2022). Please don’t hesitate to write me directly with questions: [email protected].

Through education and self-reflection, the BCC works to raise awareness of the continuing presence of racism and to align ourselves with others in a wider community to combat it as well as all forms of oppression and bigotry.
