When Will We Paint the Sanctuary Walls?

Leak and plaster repairs in the Sanctuary were completed in late September. Then, the plaster needed to completely dry so that the engineers could conduct moisture testing on interior plaster. As you may have noticed, there is still a dark area in the upper left corner of the altar wall. The engineer and contractor assessed and performed additional flashing work at the exterior chimney area and then did an exterior rain simulation test, which showed no further water intrusion. Junior Warden Brett Hacker has asked the engineers to monitor the area during upcoming natural rain events, perform another rain simulation test, and check the area with a moisture meter regularly through December to be sure the leaks are gone. Then, we will contract with painters, who are booking a month out, so we hope to paint in January or February.

2024 Annual Giving Update

Thank you to all of our parishioners who have made their pledges to the 2024 Annual Giving Campaign. Your generosity and faithfulness in giving has helped us raise $1,003,612.50, which is just over 55% of our goal. We are so grateful for your support and willingness to be ALL IN FOR HT! If you have pledged in the past, but have not yet pledged for 2024, your support is critical if we are to successfully reach our goal. We are edging closer by the day.

Please make your Annual Giving pledge online by clicking heremailing in your pledge card, or placing a card in the offering plate this Sunday. If you need a Pledge Card and an envelope, they are available at almost every entry to our buildings. Every pledge counts, so please join us in being ALL IN FOR HT!

Reminder! All gifts must be received or postmarked by Dec. 31, 2023, for 2023 tax purposes.

PILGRIMAGES

In the Footsteps of Jesus: Holy Land Pilgrimage

Oct. 13-24, 2024, 13 days

In light of the current situation, I know that it is difficult to imagine a pilgrimage in the Holy Land. As we pray for our Jewish, Muslim, and Christian brothers and sisters in the Holy Land, we still need to get registration open for next October’s pilgrimage.

What I am asking at this time is for you to sign up as if everything were safe and the trip were able to move ahead. I am delaying the requirement for non-refundable deposits until the point at which we know the trip is going to happen. I have been in close contact with my guide friends in Jerusalem over the last week. They had a group with them at the time that the violence broke out. They were able to complete the pilgrimage and are now working to get the last four pilgrims out of the country. Iyad Qumri and his son Rami are the gold standard for Anglican/Episcopal pilgrimage in the Holy Land and I trust them completely. They will not let us move forward unless they feel completely safe.

I anticipate limiting our group to 25 people, so please sign up quickly to assure yourself of a spot.

Click here to sign up and click here to read a sample itinerary from the last time our group was there (September 2022). Please don’t hesitate to write me directly with questions: [email protected].

On Dec. 17, his topic will Be Saint Nicholas, the Real Santa Claus. We will explore the legend of Santa Claus, which can be traced back to a monk named St. Nicholas who was born around A.D. 280 in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey.
