Urban Cultural Fest Comes to HT Campus Labor Day Weekend

Huston-Tillotson University has partnered with the Urban Music Festival to create a new Labor Day Weekend experience on the HT Campus.

The Urban Cultural Fest will be held on campus Friday - Sunday, September 3-5. And while similar elements of the Urban Music Festival remain, this year's event has expanded the brand to include Afrocentric aspects of culture to help all to better understand how we arrived to our cultural existence.

Live music will continue to be a major part of the festival, but we will endeavor into other cultural markers such as ethnic dance, ethnic food, ethnic clothing, ethnic visual arts, spoken word in order to reveal the diversity of Afro-centric culture.

Friday the HT campus comes to life kicking off the family-friendly weekend, featuring art exhibits, a vendor showcase, spoken word performances, and live music.

HT Joins With Paul Quinn College, Wiley College To Create Safe Harbors Consortium to Provide Scholarships

 For Twin Cities Students

Over the past year, the Minneapolis–Saint Paul, Minnesota (Twin Cities) region has experienced several senseless tragedies and unprecedented levels of political and civil unrest. In direct response, three Texas Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have partnered to create the Safe Harbors Consortium to specifically invite students from the Twin Cities region to enroll for the impending Fall 2021 semester.

Recognizing the need for an educational experience that supports not only students’ academic needs, but their mental health and emotional needs, Austin-based Huston-Tillotson University, Dallas-based Paul Quinn College, and Marshall, Texas-based Wiley College have formed the Safe Harbors Consortium, which awards scholarship funds for students from the Twin Cities region.
