Sharsheret Program Participant Sara Masri was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at the age of 38. "I had so many questions and so much fear of the unknown. Fortunately, my medical team listened to all my concerns and gave me lots of information. A friend told me about Sharsheret and the peer support/resources I received for my husband and family were vitally helpful. I still find it amazing how quickly one can become an expert." Read more

Bar Mitzvah Jonathan Paul Creates New Sharsheret Project
|
"Jonathan Paul wanted to do something meaningful for his upcoming bar mitzvah. The 7th grader at Yeshivat Noam didn’t want to simply raise money for a cause; he wanted a hands-on initiative and to be part of the change." We are so grateful that Jonathan partnered with Sharsheret, and through our collaboration with
Holy Name Medical Center
in Teaneck, created "PJ’s Packages," goody bags filled with warm and fuzzy items especially chosen to help breast and ovarian cancer patients at the hospital face during a hospital stay or even a short treatment. Thank you to
The Jewish Standard
for covering this meaningful initiative.

We are proud to serve on the Community Advisory Board for the BRCA Founder Outreach (BFOR) Study, a new initiative combining the convenience of direct-to-consumer genetic testing with the advantages of receiving testing with the guidance of a medical care provider, led by our Medical Advisory Board Member Dr. Ken Offit. The study will offer no cost BRCA genetic testing to women and men of Ashkenazi (Eastern European) Jewish ancestry, age 25 or older, in NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, and LA metropolitan areas who are at least ten times more likely than the general population to inherit certain kinds of BRCA mutations.
