Spotlight On: 10 Years at SKAE

 

Skae Power Solutions, LLC announced that the company is recognizing four employees who have recently celebrated 10-year anniversaries with the company. Christopher Morzello, PE, Robert Bischoff, Joseph Sgagliardich and Malachy McPartland all celebrated 10+ years with the mission critical services firm.

"At SKAE we believe that the single most important element, essential for the success of any organization, is its ability to attract and nurture quality people. Our people are the foundation of SKAE's success in the market." 

 

Chris Morzello, PE, manages Skae Field Ops (SFO), and in that role he designs, manages, tests, commissions and maintains mission critical infrastructure systems. His knowledge, both theoretical and practical, makes him invaluable to Skae Power Solutions and our client base. He has vast electrical systems experience ranging from working and managing electrical construction projects to analyzing technical information for electrical system design. 

 

Chris joined SPS in April 2002 and is celebrating his 13th anniversary with the firm. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College in January 2002, and in 2010, Chris was granted his Professional Engineering (PE) license by The New York State Education Department. 

 

Robert "Bob" Bischoff is the Manager of Commissioning Services for SPS. He has over 25 years of experience in the analysis, design, installation, testing and maintenance of electrical power systems in large commercial and industrial facilities. Bob is responsible for the full range of activities on a variety of design, commissioning, maintenance and construction management projects for the company. He has particular expertise in the commissioning and maintenance testing of mission critical power system equipment.

 

Bob joined SPS in August 2004 and has since served as the Project Manager for many jobs. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and graduated Summa Cum Laude from New York Institute of Technology in 1994, and a Master of Science Degree in Management from Pace University in 2000.

 

Joseph Sgagliardich has over 10 years experience in the design, analysis and maintenance of electrical power systems for commercial and industrial facilities. He joined Team SKAE in March 2004, and has been responsible for several system protection and coordination studies, electrical distribution system design upgrade projects, and UPS System commissioning projects. Joe has also acted as the project engineer for several mission critical power system upgrade projects. As part of his project management responsibilities, Joe has served as the on-site project engineer for various projects including a mid size Data Center upgrade project where he was responsible for the daily on-site management of the various electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and masonry trades.

 

Joe received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Hartford in 2003, he is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Joe is currently pursuing a master's degree in Electrical Engineering.

 

Mal McPartland is a Project Manager at SPS, and has over 12 years of experience in the management of large construction projects for various commercial and industrial facilities. He is vastly familiar with the industry standard software programs used in project coordination and scheduling including Microsoft Project.

 

Mal joined SKAE in November 2004 and has been responsible for the daily on-site management of the various electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and masonry trades for numerous projects for which SKAE has acted as the General Contractor. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from State University of New York in New Paltz in 2000.

SPS to Provide Data Center Space for High Frequency Trading Client 

 

On January 31, 2015, engineers from Skae Power Solutions LLC tested and commissioned the mechanical and electrical infrastructure for the initial phase of the build out of high-density data center space. The space is specifically designated for a major high frequency trading company in Data Center-4 (DC4) in SKAE's Palisades Data Center located at 348 Route 9W in Palisades, NY.

 

The initial phase includes 25 high-density cabinets arranged in a hot aisle containment configuration with a design rack density of 4 to 8kW per cabinet. The second phase of the project will include another hot aisle containment system comprised of an additional 26 high-density cabinets to be commissioned by July 1, 2015. The final phase will include another 28 high-density cabinets, also in a hot aisle containment configuration.

SKAE is providing the raised floor data center space, including all mechanical and electrical distribution monitoring and control down to the rack level. SKAE engineers will operate the data center, provide remote hands services and monitor it on a 24/7 basis.

  • Skae Power Solutions hosted a Lunch and Learn with Support Power on December 9, 2014. Special thanks to  Roger de Roziere and Mike Chmura for an informative Lunch and Learn!
  • Skae Power Solutions of Philadelphia recently hosted a customer event with Schneider Electric at the Wells Fargo Center, where the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins on January 2. Asbury, Pinnacle and Integra joined us at the event, and Flyers alumni that stopped by the suite were Dave Schultz and Bernie Parent. David William "The Hammer" Schultz is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. Schultz is renowned as one of hockey's greatest enforcers and holds the NHL record for most penalty minutes in a single season, at 472.

    Bernard Marcel Parent is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played 13 National Hockey League seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins, and Toronto Maple Leafs. Thanks to all for a great evening!
  • As part of SKAE's ongoing commitment to  job-site  safety, SPS engineers recently completed OSHA 10 and 30-hour Construction Safety Training Courses. The engineers were trained on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. A job well done to all employees!
