A Note from

Fr. Jeff

There are some very important events and Feast Days coming at the end of this week and early next week. Halloween is on Saturday, October 31st. I hope you've referred to last week's newsletter and have planned a short Halloween service in your home with your children and family.

As a way of lovingly remembering those family and friends who we are no longer with us, but in that great Cloud of Witness, you are invited to bring a special photo or other sacred item of remembrance with you to church on Sunday, November 1st, the Feast of All Saints, as we create an Altar of Remembrance. You will be invited to join a procession with other church members in placing the photos or items on the main high altar during the Prayers of the People, where we will offer a prayer of remembrance and thanksgiving for their lives and all they have meant to us. We will keep the photos and items on the Altar of Remembrance throughout the month of November, and pray for these loved ones each week. Please put your name on the back of the photos or other special items, and please take them back to your homes after the service on Sunday, November 29th.

And so, we pray:

Collect for All Saint's Day - November 1, 2026

Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord. Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

All Saints Blessings

The Church gives a priest several options to use as a final blessing for those attending the feast day liturgy:

May Almighty God, to whose glory we celebrate this festival of all the Saints, be now and evermore your guide and companion in the way. Amen.

May God, who has bound us together in the company of the elect, in this age and the age to come, attend to the prayers of his faithful servants

on your behalf, as he hears our prayers for them. Amen.

May God, who has given us, in the lives of his saints, patterns of holy living and victorious dying, strengthen your faith and devotion, and enable

you to bear witness to the truth against adversity. Amen.

May God give you grace to follow his saints in faith and hope and love; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

be among you and remain with you always. Amen.

Collect for All Soul's - November 2, 2026

O God, the Maker and Redeemer of all believers: Grant to the faithful departed the unsearchable benefits of the passion of your Son; that on the day of his appearing they may be manifested as your children; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

A Prayer Before An Election - November 3, 2026

Holy God, throughout the ages you have called men and women to serve you in various ways, giving them gifts for the task to which they were called and strengthening and guiding them in the fulfillment of their calling; in this free land, you share with us the great responsibility and enable us to choose those who will serve you in positions of leadership in various offices and government.

Help us in so choosing to seek those who have an understanding of your will for us, a commitment to justice, a concern for those in greatest need, a love of truth and a deep humility before you; Send your Spirit among us that we may be guided in the choices we make that your will may be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

Porch Sitting with Jesus is a weekly reflection focused on the Scripture reading (usually a Gospel reading, but not always) from the Revised Common Lectionary for the upcoming Sunday liturgy. Fr. Jeff writes monthly, along with three other diocesan colleagues, the Rev. Maria Evans, the Rev. Leslie Scoopmeyer, and the Rev. Jessica Wachter.

November --

A time for remembering

our deceased family members

and friends

Altar of Remembrance

As a way of lovingly remembering those family members and friends who we are no longer with us, but in that great Cloud of Witness, you are invited to bring a special photo or other sacred item of remembrance with you to church on Sunday, November 1st, the Feast of All Saints, as we create an Altar of Remembrance.

P B & J Ministry happens EVERY Sunday!

Did you know that we put about 16

P B & J sandwiches out each week in our Blessing Box for those in need, and they are gone almost immediately. It's a simple sandwich. A little sweet. A little salty. And nutritious and delicious! It really doesn't take much to put one together. But as we have found out, people really are in need of this small simple act of kindness and love - any time of year!

But those P B & J's don't make themselves. We need your help. So swing by the kitchen any Sunday after church to see how you can help make our gift of P B &J's to our neighbors in need.

If you’d like to provide supplies – we always welcome loaves of whole grain breads, jars of smooth peanut butter, and jelly. Or if you would like to make a monetary donation to this simple ministry, just let Angela Beecher know.

It can start with a

fruit cup...

For most of us breakfast in our busy lives is grab and go. But for some of our neighbors there is nothing to grab. Many find that they cannot afford three meals a day. And some cannot afford even one.

Please help stock our Blessing Box!

Simple food and toiletries are needed and so appreciated.

Items always needed!

  • Protein bars
  • Canned pasta, easy to open pull top
  • Single serve tuna packets
  • Fruit cups
  • Personal hygiene items:
  • Toothpaste and Toothbrushes
  • Disposable razors
  • Sanitary products for women
  • Travel size toiletries - shampoo, lotion, & coffee packets

Place items in the basket at the back of church.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Our Sanctuary candle burns in silent adoration with our Lord in the reserved Eucharist in thanksgiving for the great cloud of witnesses, known and unknown, that have gone before us, providing us with lived examples of unselfish compassion, kindness, generosity, and love toward all God's children. May they rest in peace and rise in glory!

Our next Vestry Meeting

will be

WEDNESDAY, November 18

at 6:30 p.m. on a Zoom Call.

TOMORROW!

Our first and third Thursday meals are just around the corner!

There is a sign up sheet on the table outside the parish hall for you to sign up to volunteer to prepare and serve the meals now through the end of this 2025. Please take a moment to commit to do your part in extending hospitality and care for our own parish family and those who live in our neighborhood.

Our first meal is happening

NEXT THURSDAY
on November 5!

Stewardship Ingathering & Celebration Sunday, Nov. 8

Mark your calendar and plan to celebrate our annual Stewardship Ingathering on Sunday, November 8. We’ll bless our 2027 pledge cards and include them in the Sunday offering to acknowledge and dedicate our commitment in support of St. Paul’s ministries and ask God's guidance in the stewardship of those resources.

(Pledge cards are available on the table at the back of the church. If you need one mailed to you, please email office@carondeletchurch.org.)

After the service that morning, join us in the parish hall as we celebrate the gifts of faith, hope, and charity that inspire us to support and carry out the ministry God has entrusted to us.

Join monthly ‘Vote Faithfully’ networking calls

Thursday, Nov. 5

1:30–2 p.m. ET

Join the church’s public policy and witness team on the first Thursday of each month through November, for “Vote Faithfully” calls to support voter engagement in ways consistent with Episcopal values.

Hosts share resources and ideas to help congregations promote voting and civic participation while remaining nonpartisan.

PUBLIC ADVOCACY MISSION

RELEASES NOVEMBER VOTER GUIDE

by The Rev. Dr. Teresa Mithen Danieley

On August 4, 2026 over 80% of Missouri voters rejected Amendments 4 & 5, which could have had a devastating impact on Missouri’s democracy and economy. Since then, some Missouri politicians have been trying to create chaos in the courts and confusion in the press ahead of the November 3 election. We hope that this Fall 2026 Voter Guide, along with the Vote Faithfully Reflections 2026 will assist you in being an engaged citizen and informed voter this fall. As Mary Carr, a member of Christ Church Cathedral and a member of the League of Women Voters of Metro St. Louis, wrote in her 2024 essay “Vote Faithfully to Protect Democracy,” “When you vote this year, prayerfully consider whether your votes will strengthen or weaken our democracy.” Thank you in advance for being an educated and prayerful voter!

  • Canon Desiree Brattin
  • Anita Breitenstein, Maddie Nador's sister, suffering from Alzheimer's
  • Shep Adams-Shepherd
  • Jack Brown, husband of Deacon Loretta Go

  • Erik Rahe, recovering from surgery for a broken collarbone
