A Note From Fr. Jeff
I find myself still reflecting on last Sunday's Gospel from Luke regarding the parable of the "unjust judge" and the, as we agreed, the "bad-ass widow." We must all be inspired by her tenacity and perseverance, her commitment to stand up and speak out in the face of power and injustice. We must work tirelessly in opposition to a present culture that seems to inflict hate, division, and injustice on so many levels, especially towards our sisters and brothers that struggle on the margins of our society.
| | | I was especially outraged Tuesday of last week when thousands of text messages from a Young Republicans group chat was leaked. The leaks exposed a culture of casual bigotry, misogyny, racism, and antisemitism within the Republican party, both young adults and its supporters. How, as a society, are we meant to reconcile with those infected by hatred and contempt? How can we as followers of Jesus Christ retain our dignity, our respect, our mission, and our love for ALL of our sisters and brothers? Whether or not someone may change their beliefs is beyond our control, which makes it all the more challenging to make a difference. But we must try! We must make it our mission! We must have the perseverance and the dedication of that widow in the parable. We cannot be silenced! We cannot be complacent! We must stand up! We must speak out! We must proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We must put the very core of our baptismal promises into action: To proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ; to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourself; and striving for justice and peace among all people, and respecting the dignity of every human being. | | |

O Humble One,

judgmental as we are,

A big SHOUT OUT to everyone who has been helping after church on Sundays to make a loaf of PBJ sandwiches for our Blessing Box. You're helping keep our hungry neighbors fed! Thanks for giving your time to help.
Let's keep this quick and easy ministry rolling! Supplies are on the countertop next to the fridge in St. Paul's kitchen. (Check the fridge and/or freezer for additional supplies.) Sign up at the table in the front lobby if you can commit to a specific Sunday; you can also stop by the kitchen after church to help.

Please take a moment to commit to do your part in extending hospitality and care for our own parish family and those who live in our neighborhood.

- Canned pasta, easy to open pull top
- Single serve tuna packets
- Fruit cups
- Personal hygiene items:
- Toothpaste and Toothbrushes
- Disposable razors
- Sanitary products for women
- Travel size toiletries - shampoo, lotion, & coffee packets
Place items in the basket at the back of church. Thank you for your kind generosity.
