Baton Rouge Metro Airport Passenger
Volume Up In July & Year-To-Date
Passenger volume continued to climb last month at Baton Rouge Metro Airport (BTR). A total of 57,057 passengers traveled through the airport in July 2022, a 1.3% increase over July 2021. BTR’s year-to-date passenger count through July is up 24.6% at 365,901. Passenger numbers were up 54.8% in 2021.

BTR load factors, or percentage of seats filled, continues to exceed 85%. With an 18% increase in BTR airline seating capacity scheduled for the remainder of the year, passenger numbers are expected to continue to grow.  

The Baton Rouge Metro Airport is a major economic asset to the region, supporting nearly $1.1 billion in economic output, a figure that includes more than 4,500 combined direct and indirect jobs.

United has added a nonstop flight from Baton Rouge to Northwest Arkansas Airport at 12 noon on Friday, November 11th with a return on Sunday, November 13th at 11:50 AM. The Northwest Arkansas Airport is an approximately 30 minute drive from the University of Arkansas campus.

New Airport Commissioner Kermit Johnson IV
Mr. Kermit Johnson IV is a resident of Zachary, LA and a graduate of Zachary High School. He has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Southern University A&M College. 
 
Mr. Johnson has worked for the Louisiana House of Representatives for over eight years, where he has held various positions including: House of Representatives Page, Head Legislative Aide for the Jefferson Parish Legislative Delegation Office, and currently Legislative Assistant for State Representative Barbara W. Carpenter. 
 
During his tenure at the Jefferson Parish Delegation Office, he researched a variety of viewpoints and obstacles regarding policy reforms surrounding the school-to-prison pipeline, general public policy, and real estate developments. His interests lie at the intersection of regional and urban planning and law. His goal is to promote and establish equitable investments in small-business development, and create strategies that support resilience in urban communities.
