Women Lead and Women Learn


Following the success of the recent Redwood Coast Women's Conference, Greater Eureka Chamber CEO, Nancy Olson, wrote an article that recaps the positive feedback received and discusses how women are gaining ground as leaders across industries.


Here is an excerpt, originally published in Times-Standard's Business Sense column.


"Over the past 15 years, I’ve facilitated leadership programs with nearly 1,000 adult learners and consistently find that women are more likely to pursue these intensive experiences. Driven to succeed as 21st-century leaders and overcome historic barriers, women embrace opportunities to grow their skills and knowledge to best serve those they lead while achieving excellent results.


Women often lead differently—and, studies show, often more effectively. The Ready-Now Leaders report from the Conference Board shows that organizations with at least 30% women in leadership are 12x more likely to be in the top 20% for financial performance..."

Introducing The Leader Exchange


Wondering how other local businesses are navigating our shifting local and national economy? Let's talk about it!


The Leader Exchange is a brand new program for members of the Greater Eureka Chamber, designed to create a trusted space for senior leaders to openly share challenges, strategies, and solutions while fostering meaningful peer-to-peer connections.


Cohort-style groups facilitated by members of the Greater Eureka Chamber Board will provide support and accountability, while also serving as a direct communication channel with the Chamber. Come and gain fresh perspectives, resources, and insights to strengthen your business.


The Leader Exchange is free of charge and offered exclusively for senior leaders of Greater Eureka Chamber member businesses and nonprofits. Refreshments will be served.


This month's session is facilitated by Teresa Conley of Premier Financial Group.

Make Your Resources Available to Our Community


Join Uplift Eureka and community partners for a pop-up resource fair. Uplift Eureka is working to bring resources to our neighbors in need and connect them to local service providers.


If you, your business, your family, colleagues or community groups would like to participate over the holidays, please keep upcoming Unity Days in mind. Be it distributing hygiene kits, singing holiday carols, or making hot chocolate, there are so many ways to volunteer and connect.

An Evening of Delightful Cello Music


Eureka Chamber Music Series is excited to announce upcoming performances from cellist Gary Hoffman. The Repertoire is set to include: Élégie in C minor, Op. 24 by Gabriel Fauré, Cello Sonata No. 2 in F major, Op. 99 by Johannes Brahms, and Piano Trio No. 4 in E minor, Op. 90, B. 166 (Dumky Trio) by Antonín Dvořák.

Help Shape Humboldt County's Tourism Future


The County of Humboldt's Economic Development Division is conducting a tourism industry survey in partnership with local tourism organizations and community leaders. The county's goal is to gather input from business owners, community leaders, employees, short-term rental hosts and residents who are connected to or impacted by tourism in Humboldt County.


Your feedback will help shape a countywide Travel and Tourism Marketing Strategy that the county plans to implement. This plan will guide future marketing, identify key visitor markets, highlight important attractions and experiences and ensure that resources are distributed fairly across all regions of the county.


Please take the survey, which closes Oct. 22.

Committed to NCRCT’s mission of supporting all who are affected by sexualized violence;

This family-friendly event brings the community together for an afternoon filled with treats, games, contests, music, and Halloween fun. Join the fun by hosting a decorated trunk. Trunks should include a treat and/or a simple game for all ages to enjoy.

Erik Mendes, IT Administrator for Petrusha Law, nominated Humboldt County Animal Shelter to receive this month’s $1,000 donation, as part of the firm’s “10 Years, $10,000 Thanks” campaign, celebrating a decade in business by giving back to the community.

Compass Community Credit Union Provides Back to School Support


Compass Community Credit Union recently participated in a Back-to-School drive 

for Humboldt County families. The credit union, along with Bicoastal Media and the Humboldt County Office of Education, teamed up for the Stuff the Bus Back-to-School Drive.


Take a Candlelit Stroll Through the Redwoods


Redwood Parks Conservancy is hosting the 36th Annual Candlelight Walk Through the Ancient Redwoods.


Strolling along Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park’s ADA-accessible Revelation Trail, visitors will be enchanted by twinkling string lights, hear stories of the season and the redwoods from local storytellers, and enjoy hot cider and cookies at the visitor center. A silent auction will also support RPC and the parks it serves. Pets are not permitted.
