Adelphi University's College of Nursing and Public Health Newsletter
Spring 2021
Message From the Dean
This has been a year like no other. The events of this past year have touched each of us in some way and we will be forever changed. I am amazed at the accomplishments of our students and faculty illustrated in this edition. The stories capture the commitment, strength and resilience of our CNPH community and those we serve as we fight the COVID-19 pandemic. You will read about the impact our public health faculty are having both locally and internationally.

This issue also underscores the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism as core values of our College. Highlighting the significant work of the College’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council ensures that both faculty and students are active participants in creating a more just and respectful culture for all.

It is through the collective work of many that we are emerging into a world profoundly different from just a year ago. Together, we are stronger and everyone benefits when we work in unison to define and implement our response to that which confronts us.

In closing, I leave you with the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, a woman who holds a special place at our College: “You must do the thing you think you cannot do. I ask you to be brave, conquer fear and move forward into the new world that is unfolding.”

One Hundred Percent Pass Rate for Grads Taking Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Exam

Every student in the first cohort of graduates from Adelphi's Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program who took the difficult American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) board certification exam last year passed. That's a remarkable achievement, given the challenges of 2020.

Make a Difference: Donate Toward a New Leading-Edge Birthing Manikin for the College of Nursing and Public Health

The essence of nursing instruction happens within Adelphi's state-of-the-art Clinical Education and Simulation Lab (CESiL). This is where our students apply their classroom instruction through hands-on experience with our lifelike manikins and integrated training tools.

With your support, CNPH can continue to provide top-quality innovative tools for our nurses to prepare them for their futures in healthcare. One of these is Victoria, our $80,000 high-fidelity birthing manikin, which is the only simulator of its kind in New York state and which has proven highly effective in training our obstetrics students.

Please make a donation to CESiL today and help CNPH acquire a second birthing manikin and other enhancements to advance students' patient-centered skills. Thank you!
