Letter From the Board
The Board of Directors has recently approved our 3-5 year strategic plan for further development at the committee level. The Board projected enrollment growth and budgets out to our charter mandate of 800 students in kindergarten through 8th grade, with an emphasis on expanding lower school enrollments in coming years. This will leverage our thriving operational, financial, and academic efforts to put SAIL in the best possible position for charter renewal in 2027-2028.
This plan moves forward amid the successful early adoption of educational programs like Growing Readers, and coaching based teacher evaluation systems like GA Leads, while SAIL is seeing increasingly higher rates of student academic growth. Tier One instruction has been rapidly improving due to strong coaching in the classrooms. Prudent curriculum purchases will enable even more successful collaboration between ELA, science, and social studies. And while our middle school was honored last May for outstanding growth and achievement by the State Charter School Commission, this year our lower school is also being honored! All this while considering that a year ago we worked through the vast challenges of getting a building designed and a multi-million dollar municipal bond process underway for our current expansion.
Today we are pleased to report our phase one campus expansion project is on schedule and on budget, expected to be completed before the end of our current academic year. We are excited to see the beautiful paint inside the hallways and classrooms of our new 26,000 square foot building, even as grid ceilings and concrete curbs are being put into place.
Recently, we've begun the initial steps to develop a detailed plan for phase two campus expansion focused on improving our existing cafe/multipurpose spaces, multiple outdoor activity areas -- to include playgrounds -- and a 6000 square foot multipurpose activity space. Future plans for additional classrooms will also be addressed. Expect more news on this in the coming months.
We have an incredible team of leaders, teachers, parapros, and staff who make this possible, and continue to do incredible things for our scholars and the growth of this school.
Thank you for the privilege of being part of this process!
