Scenes From Lac du Flambeau's Wild Rice Festival

Boozhoo Waaswagoning! Last week, the 2022 Wild Rice Festival took place in downtown Lac du Flambeau. The sights and sounds were truly amazing! Many relatives were out and about sharing some good times. Please enjoy some photos captured during the fun event.

LDF & Mercer Veterans Honor POW/MIA

Last Friday, Sept 16th, the Lac du Flambeau Veterans joined up with the VFW veterans from Mercer to recognize POW/MIA day. The service was held at the Veterans Memorial Park in Mercer.

The Mercer VFW, with the assistance of the LDF Honor Guard members, takes this time to honor the US flag and the POW/MIA flag by removing the worn/torn flags and replacing them with new ones. The flags are carried ceremoniously to the flag burning pit where they are respectfully incinerated. This was the second year LDF Veterans have been invited to participate in this solemn occasion.

Thank You To Suicide Awareness Walk Participants

I would like to extended my gratitude to the community and everyone who attended the 2nd Annual Suicide Awareness Memorial Walk on September 19th. I appreciate everyone that took the time to come out to show their support. Approximately 75-80 people came and walked throughout town to help raise awareness and to show we are here, and we care.

Hollie Poupart and Dan Pratt drove all the way from Eau Claire to attend the walk. Thank you, Miss Holly Poupart. Your astounding drive and willingness to go hard for your community is beyond the miles that we are apart.

We had some amazing staff members from Gizhawaaso, Family Resource and Domestic Abuse there as well. Gizhawaaso staff had t-shirts, pamphlets, keychains and books for everyone who came out for the walk. The boxing team provided the chili and raffles of pizza cards and t-shirts.

Overall it was a great turnout! My only hope is that this continues to grow into an amazing community event that can be looked forward to year after year!

Thank you everyone who helped out in anyway. You all are amazing!

If you have any questions send me an email.

Thank you
