"The Miracle League has been the most rewarding and fulfilling opportunity I have been privileged to be a part of. I was motivated to become a coach because I wanted to be an advocate and cheerleader for a part of our community that is oftentimes misunderstood. As a coach, you are exposed to a world of compassion, kindness and downright amazing personalities. The bonds created with players, the families, as well as the Miracle League community has forever changed me for the better. I am honored to be Coach Ashley." Take it from Red Sox Coach Ashley Willis, being a Miracle League coach is an inspiring experience.
Over 200 volunteer coaches led our players to success this past spring. With the anticipation of adding new teams to the League, more coaches are needed for the upcoming fall season. Our diverse group of coaches, ranging from ages 15 to 83, have made a commitment to be at the ballfield about 90 minutes, once a week during the season.
According to Volunteer Coordinator Kyle Coburn, coaching experience or experience with special needs is not required. A pre-season training meeting gives all coaches a strong start. "A successful coach is someone with compassion, commitment, patience and desire to make a difference in the special needs community. Coaches give our players stability, a familiar face, a person they can trust and look up to." added Coburn. Click to learn more about coaching.
